Even if they tweak the system, NASCAR will include some safeguards to insure chasers are in the show. They should just plain go with the fastest drivers in qualifying with a certain amount of provisionals based on the previous year's performance. Like 3 for the top 10, 2 for the next 10 drivers and 1 for the next 10 (in the previous year's standings). Then you would still have the past champion's provisionals on top of the performance ones. Hey, how about the defending 2006 Nextel Cup Champion, JIMMIE JOHNSON! He was quickest in practice and backed it up with another Bud Pole. GO JIMMIE!!!!

The rules are what they are. Bowyer has only 3 finishes out of the top 30 and many top 10s. He has performed well on the superspeedways, the road courses, the mid size tracks and even the bull rings like Bristol. Clint Bowyer is a very talented driver and is cut from the same down home, aww shucks, cloth as Dale Sr., Waltrip and other greats in Nascar history. 07 is the perfect number for the chase champ of 2007, Clint Bowyer. Go Dirt Track racers like Edwars, Bowyer and Yeley. They are the Future.

It didn't save Bowyer. Before the top 35 rule there was this thing called provisionals. The top 35 or so would make the race on time and the rest of the feild would be set by the point standings. Bowyer being in fourth would have been comfortably in anyways.

The top 35 rule has saved the 24 and 48 at from going home after their times were disallowed earlier this year at Watkins Glenn for cheating.

Yes it did. There will be some changes but I thing all the drivers who need to get in on time or go home should be able to run first when rain is a threat during qualifying. Gordon got at least 2 poles this season and Boris Said was left out

That may just motivate him to push that much harder for the race. I mean he picked up his first win last week and he's probably been floating around wandering what happend. So, if they get his car back right tomorrw during practice it may motivate him. Kind of like a "wake up call".
"Wake up call"

Yeah for him, but that is a good reason that the top 35 rule is a bunch of crap. If you are not good enough to make the race then you should GO HOME no matter who you are........................................
It is still one of the biggest retarded thing ASSCAR has ever dreamed up.
