The doctor can do a test to see if you have raised antibodies to gluten - they then follow this up with a camera down your throat when they take a biopsy of any lesions in your guts.

You will not always have symptoms that would be recognisable - I have none that I am aware of but have just been diagnosed.

It also takes between 6months and 2 years of not eating gluten for your body to right itself so it looks like it would be a gradual improvement for most people.

Eat a small quantity of a food that contains gluten and if you start feeling uncomfortable (develop a rash, itch, become breathless or develop acidity etc.), you might have gluten allergy. Confirming would need further testing by a doctor.

Most doctors don't know what tests to do as this idea is changing often. Most people who had stomach problems were diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome but in actual fact they are gluten intolerant. There are several doctors who now specialise in this, you need to google it to find them. In New Zealand we have a doctor Ford in Christchurch who is a peadatrician and specialises in this problem.

First u find out if u have Celiac or not. If u test neg for that, but gluten hurts you and u improve on the gluten free diet, then its likely just non celiac gluten intoelrance.

First for Celiac u do blood work then usually an endoscopy with biopsy.

Eat something with flour in it such as white bread, cookies, cake, rolls and if you start to get an upset stomach, you could have an allergy to glutens, but you really need to go to an allergist and be tested to see if thats what it is.
