Ireland is independent. Ireland is a republic. Like the USA Ireland had a war of Independence with Britain & like the USA Ireland won & became a republic.

Northern Ireland is a totally differnt country that occupies the north eastern part of the island of Ireland. Is is part of the UK as is Scotland.

People of ireland have voted in 1998 to remove any constutional claim on Northern Ireland from our constitution.

Wee ste, you are obviously should have your irish passport revoked and you should be thrown into the atlantic.
People dont listen to this muppet , the republic of irelands official name is Eire, Eireann or ireland.
Ignorance wee ste "knows no nationality".
Thank you people of other countries for refering to my country by its official name. We are working on eradicating all the muppets in this country, but as you see from above, its a long and arduous process.
Ste there is this thing in ireland called the constitution maybe you should read it some time, however i doubt you can read much (only stamps), so here are some examples

In the Preamble to irish constitution "We, the people of Éire,"

Arctile 4 of the constitution states.
Article 4
The name of the State is Éire, or, in the English language, Ireland.
Article 5
Ireland is a sovereign, independent, democratic state."

Article 8
1. The Irish language as the national language is the first official language.
2. The English language is recognised as a second official language.
3. Provision may, however, be made by law for the exclusive use of either of the said languages for any one or more official purposes, either throughout the State or in any part thereof.

And finally Arctile 9 section 3 states
Fidelity to the nation and loyalty to the State are fundamental political duties of all citizens..

I think that gives us the right to shoot you for treason.(as you are renouncing the state of Eire)
"A walk in the irish" you have also accepted the title of being dumb by association" please change your username as it is an insult to US real irish people not you plastic paddies

A little education goes a long way, close your mouth before you speak

The island of Ireland will eventually be one again soon so as regards that part of your question is irrelevant.(would appear you have been asleep as regards Irish politics for quite some time.)
There really aren't enough people in Scotland who would go out of their way to get independence and personally I don't think it would be of any great advantage to them.I could be wrong but I doubt we'll ever find out.

The Irish Republic IS independent, get your facts right. Northern Ireland seems to be working that way now too ... but slowly. No harm in baby steps though!

The Irish Republic is independent, but Northern Ireland remains part of the UK since they were double-crossed by the UK government when Sinn Fein won a majority of seats in the 1916 general election.

Scotland is an integral part of the UK, and will remain so. There is not a majority in favour of independence. IF there was they would be free to go it alone.

Ireland (Eire) is independent. Scotland is still part of the UK. They could have a referendum in the near future and may become Independent.

Will English people please stop calling the Republic of Ireland (cos that is our name) Eire
There is no such country as Eire
It does not exist except for postage stamps etc
And the Republic of Ireland is an independent state
It is also INEVITABLE that some day in the future Ireland will re-unite and become a 32 county republic

Yes

Careful though, Eire, (Southern Ireland) is already independent.

England would be happy to be rid of Scotland (which already has it's own Parliament) and Northern Ireland.

Now all we have to do is convince the MP's
