They are just going up faster than we can count them!
I can remember memorizing "all 40 of them" back in seminary a few (I use the term "few" quite loosely) years back. I have seen (from the outside) about 35 of them in person, but have only been through 11 of them. Each one is slightly different than the last (except for a series of about 7 or 8 build in 2001-2002 that are nearly identical), but they are all beautiful.
Although I do not believe the temples and their ordinances to have originated quite the way that "official history" portrays it, I do love the beauty and serenity that one finds in the temple. Each time we go, it reminds me of my commitment to my wife, who to me is the most beautiful person in the world. The temple just accentuates her beauty even more.
There's a quote about the Nauvoo Temple from Joseph Smith's journal that I'm trying to find, and I've scoured online sources and can't quite find it. Does anyone have any insight on where I could find a searchable database containing these writings?

Yes, I knew those numbers. I'm helping with an open source family history software, so I'm alwasy trying to find the proper temple code as soon as one is dedicated.
To answer those nay-sayers who call temples an inappropriate use of tithing, let me say that the Church has several accounts, each for a specific purpose. Tithing mostly goes for the financial needs of the Church - building and maintaining places of worship, paying utilities, printing the Scriptures and study aides, etc. Our Fast Offering Fund goes directly to the poor and needy. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has one of the largest welfare programs in the world (IIRC, only the Catholic Church surpasses us). We also have a Perpetual Education Fund so that the poor can borrow money interest free to learn a trade.
Every year a CPA goes over the Church's books for any mis-handling of money.

we are blessed to live in an age where temples dot the map. Just think, this is ONLY the beginning, imagine 10 years from now? even 20? Temples will cover the world and soon enough, every ear will hear of our blessings.

Isn't it awesome! The temple was the biggest "draw" for me when I was investigating the church. I love it in there. Very peaceful. I just love to sit and relax. During the Newport Beach open house my anti-Mormon sister came. She sat in the Celestrial room and cried and cried. She said "After that there is nothing evil in here. All these years I read anti literature and it was all for nothing. What can I do to get back here one day after it is dedicated?" She was baptized 2 months later. One year after that, I sat in that Celestrial room with her again!
TEMPLES ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!

Common, Brian- don't stoop to their level. So what if Dr Larry is an arrogant missinformed fool? Let him spout the innacurate rhetoric he's heard from the grapevine.
Just keep being the best example you know how to be.

Didn't know the exact number but WOW! I love the temples!
The spirit of God like a fire is burning!!!
President Hinckley is truly inspired and knows what the church needs...what a wonderful and marvelous work we can perform in the temples for ourselves and our ancestors.

Brian, don't forget to talk about asking for forgiveness when you get baptized into the temple in October. What would Jesus think about you doing this?
