Hi. Anybody work at barnes and nobles? The problem is I do bad at interviews and usually do not get called back for the job and I know I'm a hard worker. Anybody know what kind of job interview questions they ask when getting a job at barnes and nobles? I'm interested in working the information desk or shelving books. I'm not expecting a management position.
Any constructive advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A fresh haircut. Clean shave (for men). NO PIERCINGS VISIBLE!!! (Except for females, in which case a single pair of ear rings is appropriate). Clean, pressed clothes which are appropriate for the position. In this case, slacks and a button down shirt. Clean, polished shoes.
Smile and greet the interviewer with a firm hand shake and eye contact. Immediately thank them for the interview. Maintain the eye contact during the interview. (But not so much it becomes creepy). Don't fidget, bite your nails, or stair at the floor or out the window. When asked a question, take a few seconds to think about an intelligent answer, but answer honestly.
Practice how you may phrase the answers to likely questions. "Why do you want to work at B&N?" "What makes you qualified to work at B&N?" "Why did you leave your last job?" "What shifts are you available to work?" "Where do you see yourself in 10 years?" "What are your strengths?" And perhaps the most important one, "What are your weaknesses?" (A person who cannot or will not claim a weakness is a know-it-all, who is difficult to teach, lead, or instruct.) My favorite answer to that question is, "I tend to over think things." I'm thinking a business like B&N may ask you about recent books you've read, who your favorite author is, etc. And it would be important to know how to find specific books and subject matter quickly...so if you don't know how, make sure you take a couple hours or so on your own time, before the interview, to learn the store. (Just in case they quiz you). Another tip is to do a little research on the Corporate Business of Barnes & Nobel and find a way to toss that bit of information into the interview. For instance, B&N is a leading book PUBLISHER. And as of August 4, 2007, the company operated 698 Barnes & Noble stores and 94 B. Dalton stores. End the interview with something like, "Thank you, again, for the interview. I would love the opportunity to work for you." If you are told "we will get back to you" or something like that, where you don't know at the time of the interview if you got the job or not, follow up with a "thank you" letter. In it, thank the interviewer for their time, tell him or her something about the store you were impressed with.

First of all, GET THE NAME OF THE STORE RIGHT!!! Nothing will get you kicked out faster than calling it Barnes and Nobles when it's Barnes and Noble.

don't work there but my guess is they would ask you general questions, "why you applying", "where have you worked before this", "are you good with people", etc.. etc.. nothing to worry, just answer them regularly and you'll be fine.
