They are made from the same stuff and have the same purpose, so I think they are the same. They are just marketed differently so the parents of 4 year olds in pull-ups feel better about their kid wearing a diaper.

I agree that pullup/Goodnites are just diapers in the end. When I started potty training my son, I skipped the "big kid" diapers and put him right in cloth training pants (the ones that REALLY look and feel like real underwear, with just a little extra cloth padding to catch small accidents) and underwear. Lo and behold, he was potty trained in less than a week. Most of his friends who used pullups took much longer to potty train. Until a child is ready to potty train, I don't think it really matters whether they use a diaper or a pullup, since they're really all the same. When it's Potty Time, however, there's definitely a HUGE difference.

I think they are all the same thing. We first started potty training our 2 1/2 year old when he turned 2, using the goodnites & pullups. We finally did away with them and put him in big boy underwear. He was instantly potty trained. They are all the same as diapers except a little easier to pull up and down and way more expensive. I won't use them in the future.

I have always felt that pull-ups are the biggest waste of money. They are the same as diapers, and most people use them the same way.
In my experience pull-ups slow down the potty training process. Children just use them as if they were a diaper. Parents don't seem to understand that children need the experience of feeling the "accident" to realize that they have to use the potty. In regular underpants the "accident" is felt because it is wet. The child then must stop what they are doing and change. Children learn through consequences, and a consequence of "going" in underwear is that you must stop playing and clean up.
Goodnight I feel a little different about. They should be used for older children that may have a bladder disorder and need something to absorb the urine at night. If it is used for this purpose it is really no different that adult diaper that elderly individuals wear to help them.

I, personally, think Pull-Ups or Goodnites are a waste of money. When my son was ready to potty train, we just went straight to big boy underwear. The feeling of urine running down his leg was a lot more affective than a soggy pull-up. He only peed a couple times before he figured out what "going potty" was. Yes, its more mess for mommy to clean up, but it was worth it to me. I can wash some undies a lot cheaper than I can buy pull-ups. At night, he still has no bladder control and doesn't wake up to go potty in the middle of the night, so I stick to diapers. That's all a "goodnite" is.... a diaper. Except the diapers I buy are cheaper than goodnites, so that's why I just use diapers. He isn't confused by them at all. I understand that some kids are, but he knows to go potty before bed, wears the diaper all night, and the wakes in the morning to go pee and put underwear back on. He never asks for the diaper anymore. It works for us, but everyone is different.

I had a diaper until potty training about age two. I used the pullups at night just in case. I didn't need them after I turned three.

Ok I totally agree with you that pullups/diapers are exactly the same. Only difference is like you described the tabs or pulling them up. I personally feel that if you have to resort to pullups for an older child then the parent is LAZY. I will probably get riduculed for saying this but it's beyond me why parents put their children in these (unless is a medical condition) INSTEAD of getting themselves up and getting their kids up to go potty. It's just a routine that we have to get our kids into. Pullups to me are for kids that have something medically wrong and simply can not hold their urine. Ok parents I totally expect to get slammed for this, but before you do...remember it's "MY" opinion. Final note: they even try to make pullups more appealing by advertising "boxer" ones. Gimme a break.

yes they are all diapers, the only difference is the sizes:
Diapers - Babys
Pullups - Toddlers (38 lbs) - Early Teenager (125 lbs)
Depends - Anytime after that
If someone needs to wear a diaper, then just wear the correct size and do it. If it is potty training then wear them only until they can use the toilet.

my son just out right refusez to wear diapers i think it's because he knows he can go in the potty and his younger siblings can't so they where diapers however at night he does wet. so i used pull ups however they don't hold the pee. so he wears goodnights, they hold whatever waste he expells from 8pm till 7am.
and from my experience with putting a 3year old or older in a diaper it's alot more akward for them aswell as they tend to sweat and rash more. plus the convience of the pull ups and goodnights are nice if you are trying to potty train.

I use the ones that get a cold feeling when wet. He only wears them at night but when they get a little cool he gets right up. There just like diapers overall. Only they can come off by the sides.
