On a search of the Yahoo Web Search tool bar I read in one of the results, "Splenda/sucralose is simply a chlorinated sugar, a chlorocarbon...in the family of ... DDT". Scary.
Jack Lalane is a fitness expert in fantastic health who still works out and swims across lakes for every birthday and he says "If man made it, don't eat it". It is really hard to do that for most regular folks but artificial sweetners make me leery too.
A better sugar substitute is a plant called stevia that is 1000 times sweeter than sugar and is available in the same section as splenda at many stores, it comes in packets in a green box. It has fiber in it too, it is so much better than artificial stuff in my opinion.

splenda is like an artificial sugar it is also called sucralose..i already read articles about it..i read that splenda contains chlorine,,and as much as 27 percent of this sucralose is absorbed by the body,it is an artificial chemical sweetener manufactured by adding three chlorine atoms to a sugar molecule. And again, because there have been no long-term human studies on Splenda to determine the potential health effects on people, no one can say with certainty that the substance is safe to eat.

Splenda is a sugar substitute. I wouldn't recommend eating a lot of it. Your liver has to work harder to get the artificial sweeteners (artificial being the key word here) out of your system. A good alternative is Xylitol. You can find it any health food store. It's a natural sweetener derived from fibers of fruits. It's safe for diabetics and hypoglycemics to use. I have used it myself and it looks and tastes like regular sugar. You can also bake with it.

If you listen to people like Dr. Weil you will hear that artificial sweeteners are "bad" but without any supporting evidence. I call this macrobiotic paranoia. Spenda is still better than sugar as far as calories, fat conversion, etc.

splenda is a sugar substitute, it has passed rigorous testing by the FDA and is safe for human consumption. Relax.

supposedly it is derived from sugar and contains zero calories, however I don't understand exactly what it is either, all I know is that better living through chemistry isn't usually the case with artificial sweeteners, look at aspartame and saccharin, they are all very questionable indeed.
