Alright, so, if we were to accept that sex is strictly too be engaged in by married heterosexual couples (tho' I personally don't care about that) does it have to be done for the purpose of bringing babies into existence? What about married couples who don't want to have children? Or for some reason are unable to reproduce? Can they still shag?

Note: I'm an atheist. None of the above comes from my own beliefs. I was the one asking about tossing off, and spoke in favour of it, remember?

The marital act is supposed to be open to the creation of human life. Couples who are unable to reproduce are welcome to keep trying -- we know from the Bible that a number of infertile couples were eventually blessed with babies (seven women specifically identified as infertile, six gave birth).

In my faith tradition, these couples are also free to seek a measure of medical care to correct infertility that prevents them from conceiving in the usual way (i.e., through intercourse with each other), but we are not allowed to do things that enable us to conceive in other ways (IVF, surrogates, etc.). So, say, the woman's tubes are blocked and surgery can open them up, that's fine. Or her hormones are messed up, so she can't ovulate -- it's fine to take an artificial hormone treatment to get her eggs going.

Couples who have no intention of having children cannot enter into a valid marriage in my faith tradition, because marriage is defined as the foundation of a family with the purpose of continuing God's creation through the conception of children. In other words, if they get married without wanting babies, then all they want is sex and that's not really marriage. Marriage is the marrying of two blood lines to create new human life (literally, the two becoming one flesh). They would be counseled in the hopes of introducing them to the great gifts that come from procreation.

It seems that all animals, besides humans, have sex only in a seasonal manner. Not a life filled with minds compulsion to have sex, and even seeing each other as objects of sex. When the female animals come into fertile time the scent is emitted. The male responds and afterward goes about it's life without thought of sex until the scent comes again.

What a load of manure! Sex is to be enjoyed by adults! If you are married, stick with your spouse! Everyone else is free to dabble, if they choose! But, not with anyone under the age of eighteen! Consenting adults have free will, to choose for themselves how the behave sexually!
Now as to procreation! That is also a load of manure! What about married people who can't have children? For whatever reason! Are they then, to remain sexless? How dumb, and cruel is that?
Do they just sit around and stare at each other for the rest of their lives
Sex and religion just do not mix! Religion should have no say about sexual practices between adults!

Well first of all the fact that even biologically, sex often produces children, should tell you something. But anyway there are many parts of the Bible that say married couples should enjoy their sex with one another, and it is to be uninhibited. It is for children, and it is also for enjoying.

Procreation is the RESULT of having sex, not the purpose of having sex. In and of itself, sex has no purpose. It is mostly engaged in because it is so pleasurable to the two sexes, be they human or some other animal, however, to have sex purely in order to bear young is utter nonsense. And they all know it.

What an odd question. Why would we accept your statement as reality?

Sexual relations, between consenting adults in a monogamous relationship is a beautiful thing.

Please note that I never mentioned marriage (personal choice), homosexuality (genetics), or procreation (human sexual relations are not limited to procreation).

Yes, sex is meant for procreation. Married couples who don't want kids shouldn't have sex then. If they can't reproduce, that's not their fault. Yeah....they're not using birth control, they can do it all they want...but guess what, something might happen and the girl gets pregnant...whu-oh!
