Nothing makes us do anything. We have the same freedom of choice as was created in any nonbeliever. It's all learning from knowledge, study, wisdom, and experience. It's not at all the BLIND faith that those with NO faith errantly assume. It's like C++ to a person who is technologically illiterate. It's just garbled gibberish. Nonsense. But to the programmer it makes sense. The non believer can see the result of the program. They just can't understand the reasoning behind it.
Just because something doesn't make sense or can't be manipulated and controlled by you doesn't mean, it doesn't have power. The Japanese in WW2 didn't believe we had 'the bomb'. We have seen how that went. Then, they didn't believe we had another one. We have seen how that went.
I read the bible for truth and answers. I've discovered phenomenal realities within it. Some of which I heard about but didn't understand for a while. I've discovered things that are profound, but didn't know of at all prior to reading. And I'm a believer. We learn new things all the time. We question things as well. But once you've read and actually begin to understand the bible with its wisdom, prophesy, inspiration and guidance. You can begin to see all the remarkable power behind its inspiration. The Father reveals himself to those who seek Him.
So it really isn't that God the Father doesn't exist. It's just that sinful man has turned his heart from Him. And made him blind to the truth. When you look around the world today you can truly realize that. This world is saturated with sin. You'd have to be deaf, dumb, and blind to not notice. Our whole system of living is messed up from its foundation. But this is what happens when sinful man makes his own reality. You can't say Christianity did it. Christianity teaches the opposite of how this world has become. Those who claim to be something they are not won’t suffice either. Sinful man and his disobedience to God's wisdom have created hell on earth for us here.
So when people say "what kind of God would allow someone to go to hell?" They should consider for a minute that maybe it isn't God's fault at all for the troubles of this world. It's their own. It's also their decision to face damnation. But that calls for accountability. And that is something nonbelievers have a hard time with. Nonbelievers also have to acknowledge that denial of what is good leads to things that are bad. And that the only way to perfection is through perfection. That perfection comes from God.
This world with its shaky sinful foundation is failing fast. You watch the news. If you don't you should. The weather, the environment, our food supply, escalating wars (a nuclear Iran for one), pending terrorist attacks (did you really think we couldn't face another?), prevalent disease (such as AIDS) in epidemic proportions, the fledgling economy. Can you not see the accomplishment of sinful man. It's coming to a close as was prophesied. And soon. What will you choose? You can choose to believe in a sick and decaying world and a life that you have NO control over, even by the minute. A plane full of warheads flew over the central US a few days ago. What if it would have had an accident? You get the point. Or you can decide to follow a loving and perfect Father the loves you. Everything else is certain to lead to death and failure. Only He can give you life.

They do not think. They allow emotions to rule them. They were brainwashed with such nonsense and fear to even question it. They want to believe the campaign promises. They fear reality. I think these are some of the main reasons. There are lesser reasons too. There may be various combinations of these reasons and others. i see some people say one cannot prove god does not exist, but can they prove other gods do not exist, e.g. Ahuramazda, Allah, Amon, Baal, Brahma, etc.? i can prove gods do to exist by looking critically at holy books. They are full of contradictions and pathetic ignorance of reality and science. A god could not be so ignorant, but men who claim thy speak for gods they invented are.

George Bush? The case for war against Saddam? Many voted for the war believing that: "Weapons of Mass Destruction" did. Go figure. It seemed to make sense at the time. Why would our history of religion be any different? Maybe God does exist somewhere even if only to begin in the future when we have the ability to create a real: Lawnmower man.
God made him simple. Science made him a god.

You said in your last post you were a christian looking to turn away. If you are a Christian and do not think that God exists, then you are NOT a Christian. Since you didn't know this, then you haven't taken the time to really know Jesus. You have just been taking what you are told. Why don't you actually read the Bible for yourself and pray so that YOU will know. After this, if you are still convinced that God does not exist, well, you weren't a Christian anyway.

How do you know you exist? Can you see? Can you hear?
Can you feel? Well according to the bible so can God.
Afterall I have never met you in person, but I believe you exist because I am communicating with you right now, by way of the internet. I have never heard you voice, but I could if I talked to you on the phone. I have never seen you, just as I have never personally seen God,but I still believe in him anyway
I communicate with the God through prayer and fasting.
I hear from God through the power of his Holy Spirit.

I don't believe in a god that DOESN'T exist. The God in which I believe and pray to is very real.

If you consider just how primitive of a species we really are it sort of makes sense, unfortunately. We developed the need to have a belief system as away of ensuring the survival of our species.
For that last 100,000 to 200,000 years that our species has been here it is only in the 100 or so years that we truly started to get enlightened with the benefits of science and scientific theory.
It will take a lot more time for that part of our brain to adapt and become vestigial like the appendix.

Education of God existence. Its not easy to believe in one God but its far more easier to believe that God doesn't exist if you do not have any education about God.

God gives those who are His the faith to believe. If you do not believe, it is because He hasn't given you the faith to believe. And no, you cannot prove God doesn't exist. Simply because you refuse to or cannot believe in something does not cause it to cease to exist.
