1) Self-love... why is this WRONG exactly? It's sort of equivalent to being proud of yourself or having high self esteem. It's a healthy way of relieving stress.
2) Having fantasies of naked people. Well, first of all. We don't necessarily have fantasies at all. And if it were of naked people what's wrong with that if we're all BORN NAKED and imagining it doesn't hurt anyone?

--You're not a Christian are you? And if not then why do you worry over "right" and "wrong"?--

Not a Christian and I want answers to why it's considered a 'sin' because I see claims of it being wrong (e.g., lustful thoughts!) but never WHY the reason itself is the reason for it being wrong. It's like saying "because I said so! So there!" without backing it up.

You will find that masturbation is considered sin in Islam, sin in Christianity, sin in Buddhism, and sin in Judaism. Why? Because virtually every major religion believes that humans beings are supposed to exercise some self-control. If you can gain control over yourself in sexual matters then you are seen as having the ability to control other aspects of your life.

If you think that masturbation should be considered healthy then if a little is good then more is even better. Should a person masturbate three times a day? I've known people who did.. They would complain that they had no control. They felt that they were caught in a hopeless addiction. They wanted others to approve of their behavior.. It was really sad.

I long ago stopped being curious about why the "super-religious" make such a big "Sin" out of anything that might in any way be the opposite of "misery and suffering" LOL. If it feels good, it HAS to be sinful, and if they cannot think up an even half-way intelligent, logical or rational reason for not doing it, they settle for "Because it's a sin"

I guess that is what has been indoctrinated into them for so long they can't even use their own brains to ask the simple question "why the heck not?"

Masterbating..........yes it is a healthy way to relieve stress but others take it as something gross and disgusting. Im pretty sure every person has masturbated in the whole world without even knowing it. ts also like nakedness because its not everyday you see a guy/girl holding or playing with...you know what.
Hope this helps!:]

Well there's nothing specifically in scripture that says it is wrong. There is that bit about self love [new t] but I always thought that meant being selfish.

Anyhows, the book of law [old testament] doesn't prohibit masturbation and it says that anyone who adds to or takes away from the words in that book will have plagues, etc, added to him. So, I don't think that the new testament can start inventing new laws. So, masturbation must be ok. Just don't think of your neighbour's husband or anything like that.

Well I don't see anything wrong with it, as you stated it is a healthy way of relieving stress.
In addition there is nothing in the bible that states masturbation is a sin.

There is however references to Lust being sinful.

Jesus said, "You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; 28 but I say to you, that everyone who looks on a woman to lust for her has committed adultery with her already in his heart," (Matt. 5:27-28).

But on a personal note, I don't see anything wrong with masturbation or fantasies.

A lot of religious dogma is based on shunning the pleasure and love of the material world we live in. I can understand the reasoning behind it to an extent. Although the material world is probably the only real realm of existence, rejecting its pleasures is not the same as understanding that some of our perceptions as to the reality of life and the universe may be incorrect.

1- It's not wrong- it's healthy. Some religious folks claim that when males ejaculate they are killing babies, kind of like aboortion. Well, sperm die in time so every second that you're not having sexual intercourse innocent babies are dying? I don't believe in such nonsense. You're right about it being relaxing

2-Once again religious people think that because of adam and eve, embaressment of the naked body was the norm. And also thinking about someone else would be "coveting your neighbors wife, etc..."

Lol. You're not a Christian are you? And if not then why do you worry over "right" and "wrong"? If you must know, it's an issue of the heart. If you can masturbate without lusting, it's not a sin according to the Bible.

True, there's nothing wrong with it. Self love raises self esteem which is good and imagination activate the frontal cortex with is good brain stimuli.

Anyhow I'd rather have someone else, it's more fun.

Impure thoughts are considered a sin to many religions.

Spilling of seed (sperm...) in vain is considered a sin in many religions.

BUT - it will not make you go blind, will not cause you to go cross-eyed (at least permanently..), and does not cause hair to grow on your hands or palms.

There is a study out there (from the UK), I believe, that frequent ejaculation (several times a week - no matter the method) decreases incidence of prostate cancer.
