of the active fighters today i would say sugar shane mosley. he is a throwback. he has fought the best of 4 divisions 135,140,147,154 and has fought some even twice. he is a true champion.

My favorite today is Bernard Hopkins because he has always fought the best (just look at his last 6 fights: Oscar De La Hoya, Howard Eastman, Jermain Taylor twice, Antonio Tarver, and Winky Wright. He is 4-2 and his 2 losses were 2 highly debatable fights that could have gone either way.), is very clever, crafty, and is very dedicated to the sport.
My 2 favorite of all time are Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Sugar Ray Robinson for obvious reasons.

Floyd Mayweather Jr he is the best boxer we've seen in years & after he disposes of Hatton he'll fight Mosley then Paul Williams & Jermain Taylor & retire undefeated at 41-0. Quickest fighter out there, best defense & best boxer by far!!!

Since you said favorite, not greatest.....I'm going to say John L Sullivan because he was largely responsible for turning boxing into a popular sport as opposed to an illegal activity that was previously sometimes fought on barges to avoid arrest.

My Favorite is Manny Pacquiao because he does not dance like Mayweather Jr. I also like Arce.. When I watch Pacquiao and Arce fight, its definitely worth every penny...
