Actually neither is correct. They are hated without a cause just like ther Jewish Messiah Jesus, The Jews are hated because God has blessed them. They are hated for their God given morality, success, and because they are God's chosen people. Mark Twain said it all about 150 some odd years ago.....
"If the statistics are right, the Jews constitute but one percent of the human race. It suggests a nebulous dim puff of star dust lost in the blaze of the Milky Way. Properly the Jew ought hardly to be heard of, but he is heard of, has always been heard of. He is as prominent on the planet as any other people, and his commercial importance is extravagantly out of proportion to the smallness of his bulk. His contributions to the world's list of great names in literature, science, art, music, finance, medicine, and abstruse learning are also away out of proportion to the weakness of his numbers. He has made a marvellous fight in the world, in all the ages; and has done it with his hands tied behind him. He could be vain of himself, and be excused for it. The Egyptian, the Babylonian, and the Persian rose, filled the planet with sound and splendor, then faded to dream-stuff and passed away; the Greek and the Roman followed, and made a vast noise, and they are gone; other peoples have sprung up and held their torch high for a time, but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now, or have vanished. The Jew saw them all, beat them all, and is now what he always was, exhibiting no decadence, no infirmities of age, no weakening of his parts, no slowing of his energies, no dulling of his alert and aggressive mind. All things are mortal but the Jew; all other forces pass, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality?" Mark Twain
Well Mr Twain the secret of his immortality is God . God chose them when he said this to Jacob (Israel)
And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
This happened about 2500 BC or about 4500 years ago
Now After the 2nd fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD the Jews were again dispersed throughout the world untill the regathering of Israel in 1948 which was before the time that Twain wrote the above essay. And the Jews are still here today waiting for the Messiah. God actually mentioned Jesus the Jewish Messiah in the above scripture. "and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed." We are indeed blessed by Christ. The Jews will also come to the truth about Christ before the end ....
Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
Zechariah another Jew wrote this in about 600BC.
So the Jews are hated but they will endure. Cap'n Arlo

Neither of those are reasons for anti-Semitism, they are just excuses used by anti-Semites. The root cause of anti-Semitism among those of other religions is probably the realization that if the Jews are right, then everyone else is wrong. Thus, it became important to demonize and sow distrust and dislike of the Jews. After all, if a group is going around saying that your Messiah isn't really the Messiah, and the rules you follow didn't really come from god, aren't you going to try to discredit them in whatever way you can? Thus, people began to hate Jews based on reasons handed down from those in power. A good example is the traditional reason that Jews control too much money, so they should be treated with fear and suspicion. However, Jews only were forced into banking because they were not allowed to partake of many other professions, but moneylending was forbidden as a profession of the dominant religion. So, basically, what it all comes down to is a subconscious fear that what the Jews believe either is right or that people may think it's right, which would make what non-Jews believe wrong.

First of all the Jews didn't give the go ahead to kill Jesus. The religious leaders of the Jews did. They had NO power to tell the Romans anything. The Jews were being oppressed by Rome.
The Jews were chosen by God to bring the light into the world. Men hate light because of their evil deeds.
No one who is evil wants the light on them for all to see what they truly are.
Jews are not greedy and cheap, they put great emphasis on their educations and teach this to their children. This is why many Jews, especially in the west have an abundance of financial freedom. They have worked hard for it through their education.
We owe a great debt of gratitude to the Jews for many reasons. Too many to post on this forum.
Added: I owe my life to two Jews! Jesus who saved me from my sins, and my neurologist who is Jewish who diagnosed me when no-one else could find my illness. Myasthenia Gravis in its aggressive stage. 3 months was what I had left to live when he found the problem.

No Ive in no way fairly understood why? I first of all don't comprehend why human beings harbor thoughts of racism besides. I did examine someplace however that one achieveable clarification for the intolerance of the Jews is because of the fact many ethnic communities sense that Jews are accountable for the dying of Jesus. Its in basic terms kinda trickled down from there.....human beings in basic terms dislike Jews for no different reason than to hop on the dislike bandwagon. i are not getting it.

Neither. To think that Jews (who were hated in Rome) were given ANY power is laughable. The Romans HATED the Jews. The reason they executed JC was because he was a Jew who was gaining too much power!
As to the real reasons why, I give you this, an amazing article about it:

Christians should love the Jewish people and not hate them. We are to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We are to bless the Jewish people.
Neither the Romans nor the Jews killed Jesus. Jesus said He had the power to lay down His life and the power to take it back up. The Bible says, "It pleased God to punish Christ for our sins."
Isaiah 53:10 "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him: he hath put Him to grief; when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin..........."
God killed God because no one else can. Of course that means the body of flesh and blood and not the Spirit.
Jews are not any cheaper or greedier than any other men.
Satan hates the Jews and for this cause you have Jew haters.
Muslims believe the Mahdi is coming who will rule the world for Islam. They are suppose to be killing the Jews and Christians and getting ready for the Mahdi or killing so the Mahdi will show up. They believe the Holy Land is theirs even though they clearly know better.
The Islamic leader of Hitler's day talked Hitler into exterminating the Jews for his help. The Muslims and Hitler worked together during the Holocaust. The pope said the papacy stayed neutral because they were trying to save lives, but God will not honor that.
We are not called to stand by and do nothing to help the Jewish people. We are called to bless the Jewish people and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
If you have questions, always read the Bible, God's Holy Word. I prefer the KJV Bible.

Jews are not cheap and greedy. Jews are some of the most generous people on the planet. Jews have been some of the main people behind freedom movements on this planet as well, such as the Civil Rights Movement, etc. Jews can't stand slavery in any form (having been subjected to it). Jews are part of liberation and fairness movements all over the planet. Right now many, many Jews are involved in putting a stop to Darfur. Jews were a main force behind ending Apartheid in South Africa. On and on and on.
The nations hate Jews when Jews are rich or when Jews are poor, when Jews are uneducated or when Jews are educated, when Jews live in their countries or when Jews don't live in their countries, when Jews turn to a different religion or when Jews remain in Judaism, on and on and on and on. No matter what Jews do or don't do, the nations hate them.
Why? If you want to understand better the irrational hatred that the nations have for the Jews, please watch this short film, it's very good. Have your friend watch it too.

The sad truth is that while all of the reasons you and your friend think are, in fact, reasons for anti-Semitism, **NONE** of them are true. They're all stereotypes--and there are a thousand other so-called "reasons" as well. Just substitute "blacks", "Mexicans", whatever word you want--if you don't hate these groups, and know why other people do, then you'll understand anti-Semitism also.
I've put a couple of links below that will change your mind if you're open to it.

I personally don't know anyone who hates Jewish people, but Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and many other Muslims do. Christians know that the Jews are God's chosen people. We know that Jesus' death and resurrection wasn't because of Jews or Romans. It was Jesus' choice to die for us all. It happened because of God!

I am a sick and twisted person.
I can think up all kinds of reasons to hate just about anyone.
I have a lot of trouble trying to come up with a reason to hate jews though.
The closest I can come up with is that jews are indirectly responsible for the creation of Christianity, a religion of hatred, intolerance, and persecution which sprung from Judaism.
It wasn't really the Jews' fault though; it just kinda happened.

Jewish People tend to be very good with Banking and being lawyers and such. People tend to hate Lawyers. There is a difference in the World in this Day and Age in my opinion between a Person who is Jewish and a Zionist. Many many people around the World dislike the Zionist ideals while they have nothing against People simply for being Jewish. Zionism is a racist ideology and should be treated as such.
