They sleep and awake in Heaven or Hell. I don't think at that point they are thinking. Maybe shock, fear, regret, or a feeling of joy unspeakable and full of Glory, happiness and no more burdens, just the Beauty of it all. Depending on where they go.

Having had a so called near death experience, I experienced something as a very deep sleep (just as described in the world's best selling book). Not having anything past that, I can't comment but do believe the rest of that book on the subject since that part was correct.

You just come to realize that we are really nothing in the end. One minute the person is with you and the next your realize it's forever. I had a best friend who was just 40 when she died two years ago of colon cancer. I still have her number in my phone book, for some odd reason I cannot get rid of it, I'm hoping to call her and ask her out, our kids went to the same school and I babysat her girls. You are in denial and sometimes the truth seeps out that you will never see this person again.

Back in Aug. 1976 I died for a short time and my sole floated out of my body and I watched the Rescue Squad rescue me. A bunch of people heard what was happening and came out. I remember thinking -"how nice they are not blocking my view."; for I was higher up. I sat beside the paramedic as we went to the hospital, with my body layed out. The hospital saved me.
It took nine months to find out what I had experienced. "Life after Death". And a film came out with that same title in Aug. 1977. Maybe you can find it or another that has been made about this.

It is believed by some that many ghosts are the spirits of those who died without realizing that they had done so. I don't know if this is true, but to the non-believers, I say this: There is no such thing as supernatural; there is natural which can be explained, and natural which man can not yet explain. If there are ghosts, they are as much a part of the natural world as you or I.

Not sure, but by Duncan MacDougall, M.D., conducted an experiment in 1907; which supports (with scientific evidence) that the human body loses a few ounces of weight at the moment of death.

No. I think they transcend this world, hopefully are reunited with one great spirit that we are all part of, and hopefully they no longer think of us, for they will know in the end we all rest in that one great place.

It is scientific fact that when one dies, a body loses "ounces" of weight. If a spirit or soul has weight, then I believe it's an entity and goes somewhere.

The Tibetan Book of the Dead says they linger close to the body for numerous days.

I think they are partying.
Yippy I'm out of that nasty body bag I've had to wear for so long.
Especially if they are really old, could you imagine all that would be lifted from you if you were old and died and set free.

No, those with near death experiences say when we die we go toward the light. Light travels at 186,000 mi. per second. So, not much time for lingering....
