Yeah, thinking sinful thoughts is not allowed in that religion. Sucks, doesn't it?

Fantasizing is not sin unless its done lasciviously.

las•civ•i•ous

Pronunciation: (lu-siv'ē-us), [key]
—adj.
1. inclined to lustfulness; wanton; lewd: a lascivious, girl-chasing old man.
2. arousing sexual desire: lascivious photographs.
3. indicating sexual interest or expressive of lust or lewdness: a lascivious gesture.

Gal 5:16 ¶ [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

The fantasizing is wrong too, but that's not what makes the other thing wrong. It's wrong on its own. The reason fantasizing is wrong is because it's wrong to indulge in lustful thoughts. Jesus said that if you look on a woman with lust, you have already committed adultery with her in your heart. So it's not just our outward actions that have to be disciplined, it's also our thoughts and feelings. We're human beings, not animals.

It's important to note, however, that being tempted, such as a passing thought of a lustful nature, is not a sin. But when you give in to the temptation and indulge the thought, take it and run with it, so to speak, on purpose, that's when it becomes a sin. It's a sin on its own, but also it's an occasion of sin because it might lead to sinful actions, such as masturbation.

In order to understand these things, it needs to be understood that sex to Christians (and to God) is a sacred act, since the sexual organs are designed to create new life. It's sacred and not a toy to be played with for our amusement, any more than we would play catch with a Bible or do handstands on our altars. It's to be used only when we are prepared to create new life and nurture and raise it.

Hmmmm I have no clue really what they meant by that. Unless they were going the porn route with it. But having an active imagination is not a sin by any means. I think some people just want to complain about everything. Take comments like that....even from some of my less enlightened, fellow Christians, with a grain of salt.

That's the explanation I got at church camp. Masturbation's fine, but fantasizing falls under "lusting in your heart" or whatever.

Which is sort of like saying you can do it if you don't enjoy it, which seems to be the church's position on a great many things.

When you fantasize, you leave the realm of reality and enter a total state of illusion. How much of the present moment do we miss in trade for what is illusion and does not exist?

It's true. Jesus said that anyone who lusts commits adultery in their heart.
