Very sadly, that is not quite accurate. On February 23, 2004, the U.S. Army announced their decision to cancel the Comanche helicopter program in view of the need to provide funds to renovate the existing helicopter fleet of aging attack, utility, and reconnaissance aircraft. Also a factor was the growing popularity in the military of using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for reconnaissance purposes – in addition to tests, UAVs had proven their worth in Afghanistan and Iraq. About US$8 billion had already been invested in the Comanche program at the time of its termination and an additional US$450-680 million was required in contract termination fees to main program partners Sikorsky and Boeing Integrated Defense Systems.

The survivability rate and the ability to inflict damage between the RAH-66 and the AH-64-D were the same, but the RAH-66 cost a lot more and so it was canceled. One of the big thing that destroys helicopters is dirt and sand so places like Iraq and Afganistan would quickly chew up their engines and other equipment making them not cost effective.

the program was terminated since the Commanche no longer has a battlefield to engage on. the high threat war in central Europe, for which it was designed is no longer on the daily rooster, and the most sophisticated AD of todays enemies of the US are MANPADS like Stinger or Strela which render the Stealth features inneffective /they are not radar guided/
the funding saved this way was shifted to the upgrade programs of Aache, and for boosting the behind-the-schedule yankee huey and zulu supercobra.
