Julia D : Jesus became the sacrifice on that very day !!!

Both christian and Jewish traditions have messed up both faiths so that one does not recognize either of their own feast days as being similar [ e.g. Good Friday and the day of Atonement !!!]

325AD was the time of this great misunderstanding !!!

I agree with Julia D. We believe that we are capable of atoning for our sins without an intermediary, that G-d forgives us; on top of this, we do not believe in "original sin", etc. Thus, in practice Christians would probably be offended if they partook in a Yom Kippur service.

Now, having said that, if you mean what would happen if the two religions somehow came to a meeting of the minds (whatever that means)--well now, that *would* be interesting.

It would be the same as it is when all the Jews celebrate Yom Kippur at the same time. Except that more people would be doing it.

...and all the Jews would be talking about what poseurs and wannabes the christians were, and they would be saying "Why can't they come up with their own religious stuff? Why do they have to copy us? Geeez...."

Or maybe they would have such a great time they would all decide to get together with the Muslims and celebrate Ramadan the next year.

Why would a Christian "celebrate" Yom Kippur?

First of all, it's not a "celebration", it's a very, very solemn, serious day.

It is the Jewish (and Jewish only) holy Day of Atonement.

Christians believe that Jesus is their atonement. Yom Kippur is irrelevant to Christianity.

Wow. If all the Christians and Jews got together and pondered, repented and confessed their sins? Something big would happen!
