If you were in a 25 school zone during the hours posted on the sign then you were ticketed for 45 in a 25. Going 20 mph over (especially since it was in a school zone) you will not win. You can plead not guilty but it will be to no avail. Your license could be suspended, you're lucky you weren't cited for wreckless endanngerment. You will get points and your insurance will go up. Sorry to give you bad news but that's the way of it.

Yes you can always plead not guilty.

Will you win? Probably not, I'm sure there was a school sign indicating it was a school zone, and the speed limit is always 25 mph when children are present. Even if you didn't see children, the time if day and the fact a bus was there would indicate children would likely be nearby.

Yes you would get points for it if found guilty.

Also going 45 mph when children are present is irresponsible and unsafe. what if a child ran out into the street from in front of the bus? Going 45 mph you would not be able to stop in time.

I doubt you can use the school bus as a reason. It's common driver education that all school zones are 25 mph. Go to court...tell them you are guilty with an explanation. tell them you weren't aware you were going that fast and ask for mercy. depending on whether the judge is in a good mood or not, you get off completely. Most courts will wipe off the points and just give you the fine.

The limit in a school zone is 25 during times when children may be present, as in before and after school. Not seeing the sign is not a sufficient excuse. You will not win a not guilty verdict due to ignornace of the law, or in this case, speed limit.

You can always pead not responsible, but chances of winning is unlikely. Ignorance of the law is not a defense. You are better off pleading responsible with an explaination and requesting a reduced infraction that carries little or no points. Another alternative is to request traffic school in lieu of the citation going on your record. By having a hearing it is always possible that the officer won't show up and your ticket will be dismissed. Don't count on that though. It's usually overtime pay for the officer to appear. Lastly, ther are points involved but the number will vary from state to state for this type infraction.

Yes you can plead not guilty. I doubt there is a chance that you will win. The bus should have indicated to you that it was a school zone. Yes you will get points on your record for this...unless you go to traffic school. Paying the fine and 8 hours in a class is way better then points on your driving record.

Umm, I would just pay the ticket, you were in a school zone, and in Michigan, that is double the ticket, because of this, then you were going way over the speed limit, and just because a bus was there, they will tell you you should be aware of the surrondings your driving in. They will not let you off, and you will not win this one.

You can plead not guilty. You could try the school bus excuse BUT why wasn't the school bus a tip that schol was letting out????

School zone infractons usually carry a higher fine than normal speed zones.

Slow down! All school zones are 25 whether posted or not. You should have known better. Yes you get a point on your license and well deserved. Sorry.

Take your punishment and pay the fine. Quit trying to weasel out of it. You admit you are guilty and then ask for a way out of your punishment.

How would you like it if YOUR kid or little brother was getting out of school and got run over by some jack*ss in a hurry.
