I'm surprised by the reactions here. So many people think this is a joke. It's very real indeed. The link below supplies some analysis plus links to more, including analysis form the government itself.
It may not be the mark of the beast, but it certainly is another infringement on Americans' rights posing as protection.
The government owns most Americans lock, stock and barrel. They just want to make sure we all behave.

It is kind of scary knowing that all our information will be on one card. However, this is not the mark of the beast. I first heard about this when I saw a video on zeitgeistmovie.com. They mention The North American Union and the proposed Amero. Similar to the European Union and the Euro. The video claims the point is to join the North American Union, European Union, African Union (never heard of this but is in video), and Asian Union (proposed) to create a one world goverment. This is also supposed to be an end times revelation. Then the video mentions the Real ID card. Beyond this it is believed they want to push a chip, which would be inserted into your skin. This would basically be the same thing as the Real ID card. However, here we will be monitored by satellite. So, basically the government can track you via satellite. I don't know if this would be a requirement, but this would be more likely to be the mark of the beast as opposed to the Real ID card. If this were truely the mark of the beast, then I would not accept it because those who do accept the mark of the beast are damned to hell. I don't believe the mark is 666. That represents the emperor Nero who sent John of Patmos into exhile. It was on that remote island where he wrote the book of Revelations. The number 666 would be a bit too obvious. The Bible is filled with symbolism and parables. We simply need to investigate. The findings portrayed in this video make a tremendous leap into the book of Revelations. I don't know if it is true, but we should be careful if this does in fact become a reality.

I've heard of it. And it isn't the mark of the beast. It is an example of the federal government sticking its nose in where it doesn't belong, though.
What the REAL ID Act does is force states to improve their methods of identifying the people they issue drivers licenses or state IDs to. You will have to have up to five forms of identification. It will not have all of your personal information on it, but it will have the capability of storing that information.
I work for a state legislator, and the feds are going to force the states to enact the law, even though the federal government is not providing any money for it. They are threatening states that don't enact it by the deadline.

I guess you haven't read the part where it didn't pass the Senate.
"The Senate voted 48-46 to kill a proposal to fund the Real ID Act. This means no money will be provided by the Senate to pay for Real ID, and the program is likely to face even stronger opposition from the states."

google "urban legend."
versions of this myth have been going around since the bar code in the 1970s; there have been tattoo and implant versions more recently. I'm sure there are some going back to the New Deal as well.

Actually sounds like you need to lay off the drugs.
You need to stop reading those chain emails that people forward to you. There is no way that there is a "Real ID Card" with that much information, set to be mandated that quickly.
It would take till May 2008 to get discussions about it started, let alone implemented.

It does sound like it.
Much like how pets are tagged with an
implant under the skin.
