Most protostants think they can live however they like and get into heaven because they are "saved." They have no idea about what grace really is nor do they believe in judgment day.

Muslims, on the other hand, revere the Holy Mother and believe in judgment bast on following the words of God.

Is it true Muslims and Catholics are closer to God than protestants?

Catholics and Protestants are all Christians. Muslims are not.

"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.

Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):

By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.

A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

With love in Christ.

So many sweeping generalities are hopeless to answer. All I will say is that if Muslims are closer to Catholics than Protestants are, heaven help them on the Day of Judgment, because all the adulation of Mary in the world will not save a single soul. Neither will doing lots of 'good works', as if God were an accountant who is content just to see a few more 'bonus' points than 'bad' ones.

However, your comment on grace gives me hope that all is not lost in your case. As a Protestant, I need to tell you that it was the Protestant Reformer, Martin Luther, who rediscovered the doctrine of grace - amidst a Catholic church awash with corruption and a doctrine of salvation by works (and money). He read the New Testament book of Romans and realised he could only be saved by God's grace, given to those who put all their faith in what Christ did on the cross.

If you are a Muslim, you abhor the doctrine of the death of Christ on the cross. Your Jesus is not the Jesus of the New Testament. If you are a Catholic, you abhor the Protestant emphasis on salvation by grace alone. Both groups have a caricature of how Protestants live, based on the ungodly ones (who are just as prevelant in Islam and Catholicism as they are in Protestantism.) Get to know the Jesus of the New Testament, who is the Christ seated at the right hand of God in heaven, and all your illusions will melt.

You have no idea about the Protestant faith. I am not Catholic so I guess I would be Protestant however I am a devout Pentacostal. You know the ones that worship through song and praise and have been often accused of being on "Fire" for the Lord God.

I was sprinkled in the Catholic Church as a child. I was Baptized in water by the Assembly of God Church. Here is what we believe.

1. We believe you are not saved by works. IE- Just because I was baptized in water I don't have a free ticket to Heaven. I just came out of the Proverbial Closet to all of my Christian peers who will now hold me accountable to live a Christian life. The Baptism in water was symbolic of my commitment to living for the Lord Jesus Christ.

2. We believe that we don't need a man to intercede on our behalf to be forgiven or saved. Hence we don't confess our sins to a man, we confess them to God and beg him for forgiveness. That is why Jesus Christ died on the Cross, this removed the necessary means of blood sacrafice and confessing our sins to a Priest.

3. We believe that we are saved not by our deeds, (in other words if I am the best person in the world, give to Charity, tithe the first 10 % of my income, (first fruits), help old ladies across the street, sure I am living a Christ like life. But do I really believe in him, do I love him with all my heart, I mean come on even Atheist do these things. Doesn't make them followers of Christ or Christian it' s confessing that he is God and thanking him every day for the sacrafice he made for us on the cross. Asking for forgiveness and being forgiven.

4. The crosses in our churches are empty? Why? Because we worship a living God. He got down from that cross. The crucifixtion was the sacrafice the resurrection was the miracle.

5. We believe in the pre-tribulatory rapture

6. We believe in the Holy Trinity

7. We believe that we serve a mighty loving God on Earth, however if we don't accept him, repent and ask for forgiveness, and live for him, we will not meet a loving God in Heaven. We will meet the greatest judge, who will show no mercy. So in response to your blanket statement about the judgement, yes there will be a mightly judgement day and those who reject Jesus Christ will lay on their faces in front of the Lord God.

So to answer your question no it is not true. For you have a man and Saints and the Virgin Mary in between you and the Lord God. I have nothing but my sin, and my willingness or unwillingness to accept him completely. That's it....

I'm a "Christian" who you call a Protestant. I do NOT think I can sin all I want and still go to heaven 'case I'm saved.
The bible says, "Faith without works is dead" yet I believe we can't earn our way into heaven because the bible also says, "Our good works are filthy rags to the holy God".

Muslims like all other religions are a work based belief. If your good out weighs your bad you go to heaven. Yet, no one really can say how good you must be, or how often you must give money or how much to the poor, or how long you need to pray.

Jesus paid our sin debt once and for all that accepts him as the Christ.

Roman Catholics, does this scare you just a little that a muslim thinks his religion is like yours?

The last Pope showed great respect for the Muslim faith. Not long ago, the present Pope met Spiritual Muslim leaders in Turkey; so I think there is a fairly good relationship between Catholics and Muslims.
About comparing Muslim truth VS Protestants, you do not have the authority to do so; True Muslims would respect the faith of others. To each his own.

Catholics are a step above State Pagans.

reverence for Mary is one thing, but praying to anyone but God is idol worship. Same with "Saints." Praying to a saint does nothing, as they have no power. Only God has the power to answer prayers.

When the Roman Empire conquered, they bastardized the religion of Christianity to make it more palatable for the hordes they conquered.

The most revered Emperor in the Catholic church was Constantine, who was a State Pagan until minutes before he died, when he converted to Christianity.

I am sure I will get a lot of "thumbs down" for this, but sorry people, the truth hurts, and this is the facts of the matter.

Christians are called Christians because of Christ.

If you read the bible, you'll see there's a judgment, not only in the judgment day, but we're also being judged in our daily life.
But you'll also see there's a salvation for this judgment, and that's the crucial point of believing in Christ, for that's why He came into the World.

So how can Christians accept other "ways" if He himself said "I'm the way, the truth and the life"?

there are some common things between muslims and christians BUT we arenot that alike.

we don't believe neither of that , we believe that God sent down islam and his words the Quran and showed us the right from wrong , so that we choose and on the day of judgement we will be judged for our deeds and beliefs .
we will be saved with only the mercy of God if he wills to.

may Allah / God forgive us and make us in heaven.

We shall be called up but it's the few Muslims or Catholics that are allowed to stay that would be able to answer this question better. Remember Matthew: Not all that call upon my name shall enter into the kingdom of heaven!
