If there's a 30mph limit, that means 30mph is the fastest you can go. That's what the word "limit" means.

So......any speed that's faster than the traffic you're overtaking, up to 30mph.

Let's say the traffic is doing 25mph. Anything between, say, 26 and 30 would do it. Anything below 25 wouldn't work.

You should remain at 30mph. Only overtake traffic if there is a problem such as a accident or if someone is going less than the speed limit of 30mph. If someone is going less than 30mph use caution then proceed, you should never go over the speed limit, it is posted for a reason. Also, if someone is going less than 30mph, remember they might be having a problem. Great question!

In a 30mph zone the only things you should be thinking about passing are stationary vehicles and pedal cycles. There are too many other variables in a built up area for you to be thinking how quickly you can get somewhere. You need to change your mind set to thinking how can I get there safely.

Do that before you kill someone.

You should not exceed 30 mph in a 30 mph area, so if you cannot overtake without exceeding 30 mph you should not overtake.

Depends on the traffic you are overtaking. You cannot exceed the speed limit though. 30 mph roads are usually built up - you could run someone over!

Only overtake milk floats, bicycles, skateboarders and old peoples electric wheelchairs. Oh yeah, tractors and Sunday drivers.
Otherwise feel free to go with the flow with all the other traffic. We'll only shout she won't get there any quicker!!

30 is the top speed regardless of the maneuver in a 30 zone in Britain unless you are a copper on his or her way back to the station for the very healthy and slimming cream cake and tea then its whatever speed you like

Here in UK you are allowed to speed up to over take another vehicle ahead of you, but you are not allowed to break the speed limit in so doing.

However, having said all of the above, there is a sort of cop out in that a vehicle must travel a certain distance before it can be said to have broken the speed limit. I'm not one hundred percent how far that distance is, but it could be two or three hunred yards.

Don't blame me if you get done.

If you need to ask this question perhaps you should get a copy of the Highway Code and learn the rules before you drive again, then we would all be a little safer.
