Have they not looked at an atlas recently?
Have they not seen the size of the UK?
Have they not noticed how much green there is and how the population is crammed?
More important, have they not noticed there is NO MORE INDUSTRY LEFT!

The majority of pollution comes from heating and vehicle exhaust. Aircraft disperse high in the sky however to curtail travel now would be a sin and a phony tax does not resolve the issue! Everyone is already paying too much for fuel and we cannot even get the cost of the Iraq war to date !

This travel tax is only going into the government's coffers. No complaint from the electorate and there will possibly not be either as new taxes are introduced.

Global warming is a political issue, not a scientific one. I would expect politicians to spend a lot of time discussing so-called "global warming".

I also expect them to increase taxes and limit freedom in the name of "global warming".

All 3 are Leftists and the issue will give them more power over people's lives and more tax money to spend on programs to make people more dependent on them [it's called buying votes]. Notice that politically conservative politicians and people make up the opposition.

The pro-GW scientists are willing accomplices trying to protect their incomes, jobs, positions from the Left by lying and ignoring evidence. When the Church and governments said the Earth was flat and you had to agree or die there was a consensus that the Earth was flat. When the same powers said the Sun revolved around the Earth there was also a consensus. Both were false, so beware of a scientific consensus brought about by political power and influence.

Climate Change is natural, it has happened before, without Man's influence and it will happen even if we stopped all CO2 production tomorrow. We may be speeding it up by an infinitesimal fraction, but it is not worth destroying our civilisation and imposing a tyranny to slow it. We should instead be planning on how to cope with a warmer climate. Change is neither good or bad, it is just change. Some will be harmed and others will benefit. Life will adapt, just as it always has, or it will not. I think there probably were polar bears during the last Ice Age and they survived the 7,500 years of much warmer climate and I doubt they evolved in just the last 3,500 years.

Vote those jerks out of office and replace them with sensible people!!

India has a booming budget airline market, they think it is an environmentall friendly way to travel because the aircraft are clean and they don't see pollution, compared to the smelly cars choking up the cities you can undertand why they think that flying is better for theenvironment. Because the C02 and other gases are released at such an altitude they ca't get processed by the trees etc and it is estimated they cause 2-3 times the damage because of the altitude.

Most people reckon the Iraqi war's purpose was to get thier oil and so keep the prices down.

As for British industry, scroll down the page, all those flags, Yahoo/BT is a British company, effectively exporting to all thosd companys: British industry has changed.

Global warming is a major concern for the people of the UK, I believe the last worldwide poll (in about April) put the figure at 92% of the population as viewing global warming as a 'serious threat'. It was ranked the number one public concern.

At least on this issue the politicians are listening to the public.

They are of course also using it as an excuse to impose additional taxes, not that they wouldn't have imposed them anyway. It's just more 'acceptable' to claim they're for environmental purposes.

For example, for decades petrol prices increased with every Budget, the rise being linked to the 'fuel price escalator' and the excuse being that high prices drove down demand and preserved supplies. Much to the relief of the government, global warming is now an issue so they did away with the fuel price escalator and instead announced fuel price hikes were being imposed for environmental reasons. They've gone up by the same amount, just a different excuse that's being used.

It's a long standing tradition of consecutive UK governments to impose taxes for A, B and C but to then spend the money on X, Y and Z instead. Did you know, the car tax you pay every year was introduced as a temporary measure after WW2 to fund the road rebuilding programme, it should have been abolished decades ago. A government abolishing a tax, I think the last time they did that was when they removed the 37.5p dog license (but only because it cost more in admin than it raised in revenue).

There is on thing which politicians need to do in order to remain in power. Create fear in the population. Here in UK that fear is generated in two ways. One way is the threat of terrorism and the other is the fear of Global Warming or Climate Change.

The terrorists so far seem in UK at least to have been home grown and trained abroad. Got to do something about that without scaring the wits out of the people. Should not be too difficult. Talk a lots, etc.

Global Warming or Climate Change, which ever you prefer to call it. UK is doing far more to combat the effects of GW/CC than anyone else in Planet Earth.

"Why are the three party leaders putting so much emphasis on global warming?"

Probably because an increasing percentage of the British people are not having their heads stuck in the sand anymore!

The UK may be a small country, but we are one of the biggest economies in the world, we should be a world leader in ensuring that we have a world worth living in!

I personally will cheer when air transportation is taxed at the same level as all other forms of transportation - why should people get cheap holidays in far off countries when they could be supporting our own economy, If you holiday in Britain, you are ensuring that British jobs are made and that your holiday money goes straight back into our country!

Global Warming is the 'global fear" unleashed by scientists.Global Warming tax will increase revenue to the State. It will take millons of years to become unfit for human beings. It is better to develop new technology so that human beings can live in hot conditions as the warming goes up.I find that in most of the countries climate is becoming cooler, there is general increase in rainfall etc, contrary to warming up!

So they can get in of course. If they was interested in the stupid global warming. why the hell don`t they shut all the lights down on the motorways that way they could shut 10 power stations down. and make thousands redundant. And stop councils putting humps in the roads. Narrowing roads it is all extra petrol out of the ground and cost`s to the motorists. put up speed cameras instead. for god`s sake?

The UK has never been cleaner in environmental terms. Think of the city smogs during the 19th century. Clearly the big polluters are China, India and the USA. They are the ones who need to lead by example. Not us!

Without global warming there would be no excuse to tax you. I read in the national geographic that not all scientists are convinced of mans part in this. Whilst we may not be helping it we may not have caused it. And I am damn sure you cannot tax it away. not even if we tax China ,India , and the USA.

Not one of them can say exactly what benefits the UK.can expect from the extra taxes they intend to levy.On a global scale it will make no difference to climate change whatsoever.
