God created man in his own image.
God has access to pharmaceuticals just like we do. When he takes his Prozac he dwells in Light and is satisfied with his work when he forgets his meds for a little while he drowns the planet or burns a couple towns.

Even though God inspired the writers of the Bible, when you have so many writers you will easily have some contradictions. That is no reflection on the truth in the Bible and the existence of God

Rover,
I agree with John that "There are no contradictions in the Bible, there are contradictions in peoples understanding of scripture." The examples that YOU cited were NOT contradictions at all but YOU had to read the entire contents and not just a sampling of the material to UNDERSTAND IT.
Gen 1:31 was after the creation and it was GOOD, as HE said.
Gen 6:6 was after the corruptions that came from satan (Your king).
Your other examples are very similar but if YOU don't understand anything as simple as this then you certainly will never understand the other. Have a wonderful weekend.
PS...I would be glad to take you to church with us when YOU are ready.
Thanks,
Eds

Bible doesn't contradict itself. Those verses are taken out of context.
When God made everything He was pleased.
When man turned away from God and did wicked things, it made him sad, grieved Him, caused Him pain.
As for God using a dark rain cloud for cover, that was How he chose to manifest Himself multiple times. Doesn't mean He dwells in darkness.
Him being in unapproachable light doesn't contradict the way He manifested Himself, because it's talking about Him as God and His "body" when it talks about Him in the light. Could God not create a cloud as a sign for people to see and speak from it? That in itself would be a manifestation right?

Because the Bible was written by humans... the only thing in the entire book written by God was the 10 commandments.
Either that, or sisterzeal is right and God is a woman!

There are no contradictions in the Bible, there are contradictions in peoples understanding of scripture.
For example, you quote God as living in both light and darkness. Both are true. God is alive in the light. God does dwell in the light. God is alive in the darkness. God does dwell in the darkness.
Your assumption that these sayings contradict each other is as ridiculous as saying "The sun never sets on the world", or saying "The sun forever sets on the world", both are true.
The sun is always rising and always setting somewhere.
Did you ever see someone smear feces on their face and then run around thinking they are being funny? Only sick people laugh at them.
Normal people look at them in disbelief and then try to help.
Sometimes the "funny" person becomes offended, angry and violent. Sometimes they become embarrassed and feel filled with guilt. Neither is necessary.
The best of all worlds happens when people just learn from their mistakes and feel good about themselves.

Rove my dear, man wrote the Bible (collection of stories really).
God is the beginning the end and the present. He is everything but he is nothing. He can be what He decides.
At least this is what I know so far, I still have a way to go with my learning of the Bible. I am more of faith in Him than I am with the Bible.
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

The Bible was writeen in different ages, and for different people. They wrote their words with "the help" of the Holly spirit". So as the Bible has a part that was made by humankind, it is normal that some of the ideas are in an "apparent" contradiction with others. But if you take time to read the Bible, do not read it just with your eyes, read it with your heart too, and then you won't find contradictions.

No, God changes not. Man may have slightly corrupted the word, but more likely , people take things out on context.

This is also a very good site:
http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/
And if you're serious in understanding the origin of the god concept, I think A history of God by Karen Armstrong is a very good read (though I didn't read all of it, lend it to someone and never got it back...)
Ah Darwinsfriend already posted that link, seems like it's very busy in here at this time (usually I'm only when it's morning/afternoon in Europe, when in America it's past midnight or early morning.)
