recently i was hit by a old lady on my bike and had to get stitches in my foot today i got them out and after a week my foot is still swollen and really red i was wondering if its infected or not my doctor set me up with some antibiotics and im going for a mri tomorrow but here are some pictures

yeah i just went for a mri today so i will know by thursday im taking cephalexin will this medicine get rid of the infection?
and is it safe to use epsom salt on my ankle?

Yikes...I think it's a safe bet to say that your foot is infected. Make SURE that you are keeping the area clean...I would use Dial soap and NOTHING ELSE. Using hydrogen peroxide or another kind of cleaner may irritate the wound further. You can use Neosporin if you like, but I think it would be a good idea to let the wound breathe.

I doubt you have a broken bone, but there could be some cellulitis or osteo present. Just take your antibiotics...finish the course even if you are getting better...and if you AREN'T getting better, call your doctor. It may seem like nothing, but these types of things can go VERY bad VERY quickly.

Ouch! It does sound like your doctor thinks the wound is infected or he wouldn't have prescribed antibiotics. I do hope the MRI shows what is wrong, because the swelling in very bad. Surely there must be a broken bone in there somewhere?
