Why is it that when you transport something by car it is called shipment, but when you transport something by ship it's called cargo?

That's why English is such a tricky language. No logic, no base simply bluff something... that is popularly used and add into their dictionary to increase the number of words.

Borrow from everywhere..... Still I'm not understanding how can the words like Idli, Dosa, Guru, Pundith all became english words..... suddenly....

interesting as well however, i will take the shipment and put it in my car-go to go. p.s. sometimes my car will not drive threw the sea so id send it on a ship. lol thanx kat

Its not true.. Goods carried by any large vehicle is called both shipment or cargo. Both are synonyms.. But people have preferences while using those terms. If you doubt my answer check it in the dictionary.

in language where shades & glares both refer to goggles, this is just an small aberation.

just ponder over it.

there was a row in the mess row amongst rowmen on how to row. here that same word is being used in 3 different meanings ........so dear this is english language & that was how it was made.
