I'd like to know what was the best dream of your life.

I was president of the United States. I was walking along with some big shot from somewhere who wanted to be out to wave to the crowd, when a breeze blew a blue balloon from the hands of a little girl in the crowd on the sidewalk. She dashed out in front of my limo and I dived to push her aside to safety. But the front wheel of the car ran atop me, coming to rest on the small of my back. Things went dark for a moment and next I was in a wheelchair. The same girl, all smiles, came running up, past the Secret Service, and gave me a hug. She said thank you for the blue baloon I sent her. All I could think of was I was glad she was safe. Then I awoke and said, "It [presidency] didn't turn me into a monster."

I don't know why, but of all the wonderful, weird, or wacky dreams I've had, this one comes up. I got to the pinacle of success as I would want it, but was still giddily happy to see some unknown little girl safe and happy while oblivious to all the rest.

I was walking along a riverbank, everything was really peaceful, it was a beautiful day and I felt really happy. Then this little creature appeared in front of me. It was a cross between a butterfly and a dragonfly. I held out my hand and it just hovered over it, I could feel the air vibrating on my hand from the beat of its wings but it never actually touched me.

What I remember so clearly were the colours, they were so vivid and vibrant and sparkling and I know this may sound crazy, but there were colours there that I had never seen before, colours that I knew simply did not exist in the real world.

I've had the same dream or should I say I've seen the same little creature a couple of times since and it is always so vivid and memorable. Weird really.

And before anyone makes any comment, no - I hadn't been drinking, smoking or taking any other substance!!!

Hi!

Like Sherry (who I'm delighted to hear is recovering from the loss of her beloved companion), I've had dreams of cosmic warning or affirmation.

In one such dream many years ago, I was commanding a small group of soldiers. The men and women in my group were pinned down and feeling that our mission, to get medical supplies to a civilian hospital, was falling appart.

"If there were only more like us", one of the women said. The next moment we heard the sound of heavy vehicles coming steadilly towards us and looking up saw such a huge convoy of essential food and supplies that those pinning us down melted away and we knew our mission would succede.

In real life, I was at that time setting up a project to work among homeless people in my home city. There were hundreds of children who had fled violence and abuse, but no-one would believe what we were telling them about the situation and our efforts had been bogged down in bureacracy. The dream encoraged me to hold my position and when I shared it with the handful of volunteers working with me, they too felt it was a sign that change was in the air. Sure enough, before the year was out, we had persuaded accommodation providers to open up new options; been supported by medical colleagues to provide a "street health" service that included chiopedy, dentistry and psychiatric care and recruited a team of 200 volunteers to help carry the load.

Dreams are far more important than many people realise. Understanding them can enable us to make quantum leaps in our lives.

Thank you for an interesting question.

Good wishes.

My husband had recently passed away and I had this dream that I was hanging on to something like a cyclone with it pulling me inward. There was a swirling wind and I was hanging on for dear life. All of a sudden I could hear my father-in-law's voice (He passed on three years earlier) say "Sherry, that's Neal let go" I did and when I woke up I have never had such a relaxed emotion. I had never felt that way before. It was God's way of telling me to let go of him so he could proceed to Heaven and watch over me. He is.
