Fixed penalty is £60 and 3 points, unless you don't have a UK licence then no way to add points so you go to court and get a bigger fine. You could always challenge the ticket at court and hope that you win or you'll get £60 fine and 3 points as a minimum.

Depends on the state/country. Fines by speed and red light cameras are usually less expensive than if a police officer pulled you over.

Police don't fine you for anything. They just issue the citation. The COURT fines you the amount determined by LAW. Depending on where you are, the fine varies. Yahoo Answers does not tell me if you are in the US or the UK. For that matter, you could be in Australia, for all I know.

I should be getting one through the post soon and i think its probably a fixed penalty, 3 points and £60 fine. If you go to court hugely variable, but never less.

£60 and 3 penalty points on a fixed penalty basis. If you rant and rave at the traffic policeman or you opt to take your chances with the magistrates court then the fine will be increased.

depends where you are
my brother got given the option of doing a safety day with the police instead of a fine - he took it.
They had a talk about speeding and what could happen and they showed them some gross film and pictures of accidents - it had a good effect on him as he's slowed down a lot much to my mum's relief!!
