I'm 8 months pregnant and the heartburn has kicked in, I can't get to a pharmacy until Monday, does anyone have any natural remedies that will help?

I have had heartburn before but this is something else!! I live in Greece and my brother brought me over some Rennie from the UK but they were no help at all, I'm going nuts as I can't sleep because of it! Thanks in advance for any answers.

Groid - LOL!!! When I sprained my ankle I had terrible bruising, my mother in law put mashed potato and onions all over in and wrapped it in a bandage, I stank but the bruising went down after two days!!! For bee stings it's a ripe tomato and mud!!!

I don't know if you have tums over there or not but they work wonders. My doctor also told me that milk is really great for heartburn. She suggested eating a bowl of cheerios whenever I get the heartburn because the milk helps a lot and the cheerios put something bland in your tummy to help absorb the acid that is causing the heartburn. Yogurt is also really great. I must say I'm jealous though! 8 months and you're just now getting heart burn. I've been having terrible heartburn since I was about 18 weeks along. My morning sickness was really bad (I lost about 15 pounds just because I couldn't keep food down) and around 17 weeks my morning sickness lifted and I felt great and just when I thought God was giving me a break the heartburn kicked in lol. Good luck with the rest of your pregnanct, congrats on the baby and I wish you a safe and healthy delivery!!

Peppermint is great - you can get peppermint cordial here that works well. Not sure of you can get it in Greece but I'm sure you could get a peppermint liqueur. The alcohol in a small measure of it will do you no harm.

The Greeks are great at having natural remedies - see out some old granny. She is bound to have a cure. No doubt it will involve olive oil !

Usually milk works but My husband has an ulcer and my grandma had a good remedy for heartburn. Mix equal parts warm water and apple cider vinegar. Then add how ever much honey u need for taste. It doesn't taste real good but it will help ALOT!!

I agree with Chinrasu. Avoid using the microwave or eating acidic foods. I would recommend organic apple cider vinegar about a capful each day. http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/acvinegar.html
You are lacking enzymes and the salty foods you get in Greece is not helping either. Drink lots of water.
Try it out and see.

Thanks for the Q. I hope your pregnancy goes well.

Take care

I think if you drink some peppermint tea or a glass of milk at room temperature it will help!

Avoid taking spicy and oily food; take boiled or steam- cooked & easily digestible food.
Finish your dinner at least 3 hours before you go to sleep.
Try to go for a small walk half-an-hour after dinner.
A glass of milk also helps to neutralise acidity.
