Same thing happened to me. I broke out in an itchy rash on both my legs under my tattoo and not directly on it at all. I believe this happened from the A&D ointment my artist told me to put on. I must have developed an allergic reation to it from long term use. Since mine were black I assumed I was not allergic to the ink, plus the tattoo did not have the rash. The thing that cured it (and is keeping my tattoo looking GREAT color wise) is emu oil. I know it sounds gross but it WORKS! It cleared the rash right up even after anti-histamine lotion (not put on the tattoo but other skin) did not work. I repeat...emu oil. Check your local health food store for it. Good luck!

I have 3 tattoos and if you were allergic to the tattoo ink, you would have had an immediate reaction I think. Maybe you should go to the doctor. I'm not 100% positive but i really don't think you're allergic to the ink.

Go see a doctor... you can be alergic to the ink... its entirely possible and happens more often than some think. It could also be an infection or some rash that has nothing to do with the tattoo itself. However, because it is so close to the tattoo go to the dr. and have it treated... if the rash spreads to your tattoo you may end up with a tattoo that does not heal properly and will look horrible. My skin spits out the red ink... but takes black just fine... so it depends on your skin. Good luck.

If the rash is under the red ink the answer is most definitely yes. It is common to have an allergic reaction to red ink especially if it is exposed to sunlight. My wife has a tattoo and had a reaction to the red ink for years especially when in the sun until eventually the red ink broke up and virtually disappeared.

If it is red ink it may be that you are allergic to it. go back to the place where you got it & there is a line of Products called "tattoo Gue" & they have a lotion for allergic reactions for tatts. It will take a while to make it go away, but the itch should stop soon after you put the lotion on. (my dad had this happen to all of his tattoo's with red ink, he has 3 with the red & they all did that)
If you tat is not red then I am not really to sure

Skippy say more likely a infection. Most tattoo artists arent very professional about cleanlyness. So you most likely caught some sort of infection. Skippy would also get checked for hepititus, because unclean tattoo guns are a common cause for that.
Skippy wonders.....Would you let a doctor work on you who only had a GED and a 9th grade education? Why do people not care about tattoo artists being uneducated and doing things to them who can make them very sick.

Oh my gosh! Don't run to a doc for something like that. It's a tattoo, they diagnosis you with the worse thing ever to freak you out from ever getting one again. Go to the artist that did it. They will know more than a doctor.
