I don't know about you, but for me personally, it is directly correlated to what I eat; when I eat ice cream, I break out in acne. When I eat junk food, cheese, peanut butter etc., I break out again. It has to do with what you eat- try to avoid junk foods. Also, there are some products you can get in stores to help. These may include creams or acne washes.

There are so many causes of acne. I am 28 years old and still have acne problems on my shoulders, but not my back or face. I went to see a dermatologist and they were able to help diagnose the cause. In my case, it is a hormonal imbalance. I have been prescribed topical solutions...Clindamyacin, benzoyl peroxide and tretinoin gel. The combination of the three has helped eliminate most of the acne. For women with acne, an oral contraceptive pill is sometimes very effective. I'm not sure if there is anything specific like that for men, though. It's best to ask a dermatologist.

Try over the counter benzoyl peroxide first. It will kill the bacteria in your skin, which might help improve your acne.
Since you've had acne for several years though, I would recommend you see a dermatologist. I did this after getting horrible acne, and I haven't had a breakout since.
It might take a while, but the good news is that the dermatologist will almost always be able to treat your acne.
Good luck!

I use Velocity by Mary Kay and their Acne treatment gel. It works so well! The ATG can make my spots look almost or completely gone in one night. It's my lifesaver! (Sometimes I use the Classic Skin Care Mask 3). I use Aveeno for my arms though. (I have a genetic skin condition that makes my arms all goosebumpy. It's slightly embrassing) Good Luck!
