My son has SEVERE SEVERE ringworm, and I took him to the doc, she prescribed griseofulvin, and he has been taking it for 2 1/2 weeks. Instead of getting better, it has gotten worse!!! It is so----- severe, I don't know what to do. I've been putting tea tree oil on him for the past week, and it's not really helping either. What do you do if the standard treatment does not work??? I cannot find any info anywhere about griseofulvin not working and what you do when it doesn't! HELP! HELP! HELP!!!!!

Call his doctor and let her know immediately that the medication isn't working. You can also get a second opinion. Whatever you decide, do it sooner rather than later.

I have the same problem!!! I was told by THREE doctors that i have ringworm and have been prescribed multiple medications for two months now. My ringworm spread ALL over my body when i stared taking the medicine for it. I just had an appointment with a dermatologist and he doesn't think it's ringworm at all! I am having a biopsy to see what it really is. SEE A SPECIALIST!!

Talk to your doctor about this.

Griseofulvin takes 2 - 4 weeks to have an effect on skin fungal infections and must be continued for a fairly long time. Follow the directions carefully. If you are using a liquid preparation, shake well. Store in a cool place away from light and moisture.
