If you're in doubt about god's existance that would be closer to agnosticism than atheism. If you were certain that god(s) doesn't/don't exist then you'd be atheist.

"I was born into a religion known as Christianity to most people. Yet I have my doubts whether God exist or not. I try to be open minded on people's view on religions, but won't follow them. "

Why do you doubt ?
Take a look at this world, The orbit of this planet, it's position in relation to the sun, the 4 seasons, Spring, summer fall, winter, Water, air Gravity, plant life, and all it encompasses, the marvelous complexity.
You see, God exist in eternity, He was not created, He had no beginning, Time itself, the ticking of the clock as it were, was created by God for us as God does not need it, He exist outside of time around time about time, now with that answered, can you explain the origins of the Universe with physical evidence that can be tested and examined?
No, it cannot, because, how did the something come from the nothing ?

I was not born a christian,no one is, we are all born sinners but choose to become christians at a certain point in our lives when we feel that there is no hope and we cant handle trials and tribulations. Here are so of the daily reminders that prove to me that God does exist: I wake up to a new day every morning, good or bad. I look at my grandchildren and know that a loving God put them here to remind me that there is hope for our future. We all go through trials on a daily basis and its how we handle them that decides the chain of events for the day. Today, if you dont have faith, its very hard to see the good in everything. I just hope you dont let lifes hardships harden the good in your soul. When you think no one else cares, God does!

"try to be open minded on people's view on religions, but won't follow them."
There is your problem right there. Why are you listening to other people's opinions and WHY are you following them? If you were born into Christianity then you have some knowledge for yourself already. If you want the truth of God revealed to you study His word, pray, and seek Him for yourself. God will only reveal Himself to a pure and humble heart that approaches Him not a pride filled unbelieving heart. But His Word says that if you seek Him, He will be found. You just have to be honestly after God and God alone.

Dave is right. Atheism isn't questioning, it's finding no reason to believe. Right now, you're questioning and you can go either way depending on what you choose to research. If you study multiple religions, you may find one you like or several that you like parts of. You may find that it's better to take the good parts of a religion and leave the bad. You may decide that none of them make any sense. But until you come to a conclusion, you can be considered agnostic (which simply means you don't know). Good luck in your journey to find your truth.

No, but may I suggest that you embark on a plan of truth seeking? God never said follow this religion or that, He said "Follow Me". Now, in your heart is where and how you know God is real: you have the experience of His presence. It seems you may have lost your spiritual insight, and God is now knocking on the door to your heart. Follow your heart. Won't you give God a chance to be in your life to help guide you through everything come what may?
Jesus came to set people free from religious creeds, enslaving doctrines and dogmas that you have to follow out fear and mere duty. Jesus never told anyone they had to make a church (but he does uphold all the sincerest of church goers) ... so don't worry so much if you're not becoming puppet who follows people's rituals. Instead, may I suggest you just ask God to help you renew your relationship with Him? To help your spiritual insight be brightened? To please help you be born again in the Spirit?
If you do this honestly and sincerely, the answers will come, and the experiences will come.

Well there you have it, you don't follow them you said, I'm convinced you have doubts because you never taken on a path yet. Whether you burry your face in the alter and ask God to saturate you in the Holy Ghost or you walk away from what you we're raised in, the decision is up to you. Burn for eternity or live happily with your God for all eternity.
You decide.

Doubts with belief is still christianity....
Atheists believe in no greater power....
Agnostics aren't sure, so have "suspended" a descision in their mind, holding from saying one way or the other until they can prove it.
as a kid you believe what you are told, as you grow up, you should get more in touch with reality, keep an open mind, and use your brain...believe half of what you see and none of what you hear..aside from that, be yourself.

Religions are just formalized, mass, excercises in spirituality. Sticking with the excercise motif, you don't have to join "Gold's Gym" to be healthy. It works for many people, but you have an endless array of excercises, both spiritual & physical, you can adopt in your pursuit of good health.
And you needn't follow anyone. Though you're living your life alongside the rest of us, it's a decidedly personal journey.
I will point out that you won't be condemned to hell for not joining a gym. So, don't swet it. Thinking will serve you well.

Dearest,
The only way is to open your thinking. Faith is the only way to please God and that means we need to open up our hearts to God and just say, "God I want to believe."
There is so much about this world that brings doubt to our hearts, but if we can just forget the outside influences for a while and just seek after God then we will find him.
Think of the battle for your soul like this. It is similar to finding a husband or wife. There are many choices out there. Yet, there is only one for you. We mess around with all these others and find them empty and untrue, but when we find that right one and we choose them it is like euphoria.
Satan has planted many counterfeits before you and that has brought doubt. YOu can choose the counterfeit, but just like a bad marriage you will fall away disappointed.
I plead with you choose Jesus Christ in a church that preaches the whole gospel and not too legallistic. Find one that preaches mercy and not money and you will see that God moves for those who believe and love him back as much as he loves them.
God bless your journey.
