I love how people fall all over themselves to make elaborate excuses for malevolent behavior.
"What would we learn in paradise? .... He wants us to learn ..."
That kind of obfuscation avoids the heart of the matter. WHY does he want to first create something, then play a teaching game with it? You can try all you want, but there is no possible logical motive for creating something to fail if you have the ability to create it to succeed. The only motive is your personal entertainment. Period.
"Trying to reduce God to level of human understanding .... we aren't supposed to understand ...."
And that's the only way you can avoid the dark truth.
It is so wierd that the same people who insist on moral absolutes for humans, don't blink at giving a deity moral relativism. Somehow the deity has a unique alternate dimension moral code where everything that is wrong for a human is somehow rationalized, excused and white-washed for a deity. Nevermind the deity is reputed to have created humans in his image, so then why would they not understand his motives?!?
Please, stop confusing the forest and the trees when making excuses for your god. Stop getting hung up on the details of the foreground and get down to the root issue ... the one you avoid with the "we aren't supposed to understand his motivation" mantra. You DO understand the motivation, and you just want to deny it so you can practice the whole "ignorance is bliss" thing.

You, who are not the creator, do not understand what is good and what is not, nor do you seem to understand the concept of free will.
Are you a parent? If you were you might understand better. God created a wonderful world that was good and then made a special place just for Adam and Eve. In this place he gave them everything they could want. In the Garden he also placed the tree of forbidden fruit and told them not to eat of it. Both were aware of this danger and trust God placed in their hands. Nothing was with held from them. If God had not placed some restriction on them how could they show they had free will? If you make everything in this world legal (drugs, prostitution, murder, rape etc...) you will not have any laws broke and hell would be on earth.
Now going back to being a parent. There are things in a home that are not good for a child. You can only hide them or lock them up for so long. If you keep your children ignorant of them they could wind up dead. Likewise if you show them and they do not have respect for you they can still wind up dead. Mind you I am not just speaking about guns, cleaners, medicine, and the like. You have wall plugs, razors, soap, shampoos, conditioners, and much much more. These items can be life threatening and you can only watch your child for so long before temptation wins out. So, through teaching, holding nothing back, and a good bit of discipline you will raise good children and over time nothing will be kept from them.
So, yes, I really believe had we waited and withstood temptation God would have given his children both the tree of life and the tree of knowledge. But, even if he did not where is the harm? If you have some one willing to tell you everything you need and is there for you every step of the way do you really need that knowledge? No.
Oh and think on this. We believe that after judgment we will have eternal life. So, we now have the knowledge and later we will be eternal so the Bible promises that we will indeed have it all. (I also fix my children different things to show them that life is more than fast food. So far they have surprised me by what they do and do not like.)

God gave us free will so we could chose. He did not want robots for children. He wants a close relationship with us. By giving us a choice to decide what is right or wrong, he hopes we will make the right decision to talk it over with him first. That is where the close relationship & free will come in. Besides, would life be any fun if you knew everything & had everything. It would be very, very boring! God is great & you know this or you wouldn't be struggling with such dumb questions as the one posted here, now. AMEN!!

Ah because of the Angelic conflict and his deal with Satan.
Man were created for these things, the ability to choose good over evil ... God's ways over Satans etc.... This being a fair game in Satans arrogant plea to show God he can do a better job in getting soul-life to deny God and his ways.
This, is the core foundation of the creation of Man and woman.

Mankind was to extend paradise Earth wide. You always have more of an appreciation for something when you put forth an effort than if it is just handed to you.

If the professor wanted you to pass his class, why didn't he give you the answers to the test from the first day so that you would know what was coming? There is no growth and development without trial and error. We don't learn unless we have to think about it and make choices. We learn from our mistakes as well as our successes. This life was primarily to see if we would learn to live by faith to follow every word that comes from the mouth of God. Obedience comes from learning and choosing to follow or not. Paradise will be reserved for those that learn to deserve it by their obedience, faith and perseverance.

Yes, God made Satan. The Devil was his most beautiful angel until he decided that he was better than God. And yes, instead of deciding to make us all empty-headed in eternal paradise, God gave us Free Will. The Devil, not God, tempted Adam and Eve. God knew it was going to happen. You'll have to ask Him yourself why He did it, but I can tell you with certainty that we'll appreciate what He has in store for us at the end of time a lot more now that we've known evil and suffering.

well it goes like this, you are in the matrix and in the matrix, you think you want everything to be perfect, but you really don't, and the matrix would collasp if it was perfect, so God put the tree of life and the tree of Good and evil and gave satan freewill to sin and Adam and Eve who didn't know they were naked (after eating the fruit) said "Oh my." and ran to cover themselves. Eve should have taken the red pill.
