I'm waiting for the commercial that asks "Getting out of bed and starting your day disorder". (GOOBASYDD)

Or one that says "Putting on your socks and shoes syndrome" (POYSASS)

Here's a good one, "Moving off your chair and getting exercise disease" (MOYCAGED)

I don't really have a tinfoil hat in my clothes-closet, but try this: Big Pharma encourages Big Insurance, both chum together with Big Medical Research [all of whom are interwoven in a seamless garment of profiteering] and put on a show called "New Syndrome Development". Restless old party legs? RLS! Bad-tempered little tyke? ADHD! And lord how the money rolls in... Gran actually believes she's getting cured of something....her pharmacist adores the new & improved product which will be 5 yrs before going generic...the insurance/research/medico folks get their golden rewards...and the suckers proliferate and pay-pay-pay. Toenail fungus...adult attention deficit...Hey, just think, once upon a time these diseases/disorders were just a gleam emanating from the P&L pages.

Sometimes it seems that way but we are also experiencing a rise in so many diseases and depression. My son has autism and I know 10 other kids with autism... it never used to be this common, ever.

Depression is definitely on the rise and it's a very real problem. I see nothing wrong with medicating a disease/disorder, however quirky it might sound, if it helps.

Yes, those secular humanists and greedy materialists who reject the perfect Spirit Medicine Gifts of our Good Maker-Master Doctor Jesus Christ will think they are ever more physically sick and need hundreds of pills per day ! Then a thousand more different pills a day to counteract the terrible damages of the first hundred pills ! and so on and on ...

Also, there is falsely taught in the media that there is no freewill and no sin; all bad things done by you are just genetic, not your fault; and that society must be more "PC tolerant" to accept you as you are ... a dear, sweet serial killing chainsaw murderer ! "Here, Dear, have some more oil and gas for your chainsaw; and go out and realize your true potential more." (MADNESS !)

I would have to agree with you. But I hope I'm not diagnosed with any of the disorders you mentioned until they have a new drug for it.
I remember when a disruptive child in a classroom was just bored now it's ADD or ADHD. My teachers had always made school interesting so I didn't have any classmates who were ADHD or ADD. And now there saying that adults have it as well. Whatever happened to saying somebody was bored?

God knows they've classified normal childhood behavior into a myriad of mental disorders and chemical imbalances.

According to today's doctors,.. my cousins and I should have been put on a mind numbing regimen Ritalin, antidepressants and sedatives.

I'm sure that has PLENTY to do with the childhood obesity problem also. It's hard to play when you're drugged into a stupor.

I am really glad that all of you good people think it is fun to deal with these diseases! Because believe me they are not!
My granddaughter has Autism, and watching her struggle everyday, over the most simple of things, is anything but funny! I think all of you should count your blessing that you don't have to deal with any of these diseases that were mentioned!
It would be a very rude awakening! And an unpleasant one!
And all of this has nothing to do with politics! But since she brought it up!
Liberals rule, and neocons suck!

This is another issue that began with the Baby Boomers. Rather than absoution for immoral behavior we sought rationalization and psychotherapy offered us that. Instantly, we were no longer bad, we were sick! That granted us license to continue to behave badly without guilt. After all, if we have a disorder, we are not really responsible for our actions.

Then we began to carry this over to our children. They are no longer undisciplined they have ADD, AHDD or whatever else we can think of to explain away our lack of skill in disciplining our children. Drug them, see? Isn't that better than discipline?

I agree with you.

And we are sooo quick to label our children, and ourselves, and pop a few pills. ADHD, autism, depression, restless leg syndrome. Here is your pill.

Craziness it is. and living proof that the pharmaceutical companies are making us drug dependent and becoming rich off our laziness at accepting personal responsibility.
