How could he have sinned? Don't you think the God character over-reacted, just a bit? Didn't God know Adam was going to eat the fruit anyway? Why not just remove the tree?

If you leave an open bottle of bleach on the floor and tell your toddler not to drink it, is it really their fault if you stand by and watch as they proceed to go to the bleach and drink it anyway?

EXCELLENT POINT!!!!!!!!
either god is an abusive parent or he is an absentee parent....either way it is his fault and only he can carry the blame.

Like most Atheist you focus your question on the negative. Let me carry your analogy a bit further to make it more accurate. If you place a bottle of bleach and a bottle of Pepsi a bottle of milk, a bottle of the toddlers favorite juice on the floor and tell the child thye can drink the milk, the Pepsi, the juice but not to drink the bleach or they will die. Well that is what God did, He gave Adam al things that he could have, and one little thing that he could not. Had God not given Adam a choice Adam would have been like most Atheist a bit of a robot.

All things have an appropriate time, and place. How can one judge life, or a world, until they have seen it all (including physical death)? A better analogy would be God placing a box of matches on the shelf, and telling the child not to play with them. Fire was an important contribution to human life on earth, but it has a downside too.

The fruit of the tree that they ate, is Judgement. In the act of judging someone, or something else, a person judges themselves. God didn't Judge. they did.

issues does no longer be any distinctive. Adam and Eve did no longer develop into clever. That replaced into merely their want. What they did do is disobey God. that's what brought about evil to flow into the international. And the evil is perpetuated by employing the disobedience of all and sundry because of the fact. Had Adam and Eve by no skill sinned, actually the infants or grandkids might have. Temptation is, nicely, tempting.

I've asked this question before. The response I got was Adam disobeyed God but did not sin by eating from the tree. I'll admit, this answer caused further confusion.

It's also interesting how Eve gets the rap for the whole thing, when God made the tree, told Adam not to eat from it, and THEN made Eve. She wasn't even around to hear the admonition.

Some have said that the tree had to be put there or we wouldn't have had free will. That's baloney, of course. I presumably have free will but there's an infinite number of things I don't have the opportunity to do.

Excellent point. Adam and Eve had no knowledge of good or bad prior to eating of the tree, therefore they could not be held accountable for their action of eating the fruit. Therefore the entire idea of original sin falls on it's face and the entire religious edifice comes crashing down. False arguments bear false beliefs.

Adam, being a grown man, had much more common sense than a toddler and should have known that if God tells you that something is dangerous to your health, you probably shouldn't eat it.
If God removed the tree then He would have taken away the option of eating from it, which is what free will is.

Adam disobeyed God - who had forbidden him to touch that tree

So he sinned

The tree was placed there to test Adam and he failed

Adam had never been tempted, he had been told not to eat of the tree and he hadn't. The old devil, satan the serpent tempted him. This was new to Adam and Eve, who knows how many times there were tempted, we just know that he was tempted and failed. Thus the consequences were passed down from his generation on. But remember what God said to satan, Genesis 3:14 and 15, he gave satan a little mystery to think about, And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. The old devil is in trouble already, and someday the lake of fire is his reward. And I am sorry to say that all who donot believe in Jesus will suffer the same fate. Please donot let satan pull you down with him. Get saved today, Jesus died for you on a cross, a perfect sacrifice, to wash away all our sins. Our sins have been passed down from adam on. But Jesus washed them white as snow, all we have to do is accept him as our Lord, just say this simple sinners prayer, and wash your sins away,Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!
