Units are the safe amount of alcohol you should consume in 1 week, for a woman the maximum safe amount is 14 units with at leaset 2 alcohol free days per week. Many drinks have the units printed on the bottle, i.e a 330cl bottle of Stella is 1.8 units. I think a litre bottle of vodka contains around 128 units ! There are various drink aware web sites where you can find all the information you need. As a matter of information for you any woman who drinks more than 2 units at any one time increases her chances of contracting breast cancer by a massive 40% - that's enough to make you think about the amount you are consuming.

For a start ignore units , in fact who takes any notice of this blair/brown government.
A litre of vodka is 40 units , a woman is not supposed to do more than 21 , most women i know in your age group and older drink 50 to 60 units a week . They all hold down high paid jobs and are healthy.
I know a lady of 75 who drinks 4x35ml of gin a day , thats nearly a litre a week.

Well, physically, besides the fact that you are destroying your liver, the alcohol that you ingest will take a toll on your looks, as well. There is no going back, as far as that is concerned.
Spiritually, you are destroying yourself, as well. It is written that wine is a mocker, and strong drink is as a raging spirit. It is also written that you should be not drunken, but be filled with the Holy Spirit. This comes to you from a man that used to drink one to two 1.75 litre bottles of Crown Royal per week. Along with this, I took pain pills occasionally, and since I sold pot, it was no big deal to consume an ounce or more of that each week as well, not to mention the twelvepack of beer each day.
The Lord healed me. I do not drink, smoke pot, sell pot, take pills, or even smoke cigars and cigarettes, also a 30 year old habit. There is freedom, if you seek it. I had no so-called "professional" help to do any of this. Only Christ. When you involve Him, you can throw all the psychology, AA, etc. right in the trash can where they belong.
To quote a rather famous man, "Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, I'm free at last." God bless.

one liter is aout 33 ounces. One drink is 1.5 ounces if it's hard liquor.
So thats about 22 drinks a week, or about 3 drinks a night.
For women, heavy drinking is typically defined as consuming an average of more than 1 drink per day, according to the current governmental dietairy guidelines.
According to the offical report, you are a heavy drinker.
However, also according to the offical report, unless it starts to adversly effect your life you don't have a problem. So unless your drinking is interfearing with your life or your health, don't sweat it.

If you are a resident of the former Soviet Union and you are only drinking a single litre of Vodka a week, you definetly need to increase your intake of fluids. However if you live any where else in the world, your consumming an unheathy amount and should cut back.
You'll save your liver, save money and cut back on calories.

Well they used to reckon 7 units but now they've doubled it, and say women shouldn't drink more than 14 units a week, that's roughly half a BOTTLE of vodka a WEEK, a unit is one pub measure, 1/6th of a gill approx 25mls.

You are really hurting yourself. Your liver is a very important part of your body and alcohol kills the liver. I would re think this if I were you and cut back now. Only drink on the weekends and try to only have one drink. Pretty soon you will find something more productive to do with your life! Good Luck to You and PLEASE don't drink and drive!

There is somebody out there who will tell you anything is bad - if you listened to them all you have a miserable life and be very hungry and thirsty. Ignore them.
If you are happy drinking your vodka and cokes carry on. If it worries you or makes you unhappy then get advice from your GP - they'll understand - most of them drink a litre a night!

its a max of 14 units a week for women.
A UK unit of alcohol is equal to approximately 8 grams or 10 millilitres of pure alcohol. This means that if you have a litre bottle of vodka say at 38% Alcohol By Volume, that bottle will contain 38 units.
Anyway its your liver, do what you want with it, just dont go complaining when your in agony and need of a transplant
Happy drinking :)
