Every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven-as mentioned in the Bible.

If anyone thinks there is any merit to what you just said, then they aren't atheists.

Some of you just don't get it. Your bible is meaningless to us.

Anil, you are challenging people gratuitously. Try rather to test the depth of your own understanding. Belief does not turn on and off with a switch. It takes constant work, because there is no truth for anyone, only closer and closer approximations. That is the human condition: it includes perfectibility, not perfection.

Careful with that puzzling quote. One might think that Jesus is warning people not to be foul-mouthed, and I wonder if that isn't how you also take it.

Think first of the 'Trinity' as the Giver, the Receiver, and the Gift. The Holy Spirit is the Gift.

Look now at the context in which these words were uttered.

Jesus was referring to the varying depths of understanding among the people.

There were Jews around Him who worshiped the One Creator (the Father, the Giver), but who did not recognize his Manifestation, Jesus (the Son, the Receiver). There were Gentiles as well, who had never received any divine messenger or prophet before, and who recognized neither the One Creator, The Father, nor His Manifestation, Jesus, the Son. There also were Gentiles whose spiritual intuition was such that they recognized the divine station of Jesus Christ, even though they were pagans with no concept at all of the oneness of the Creator. In other words, they may have scoffed at all of that 'God' stuff, but they instinctively bowed down before Jesus Christ.

So, Jesus was talking about the varying depths of people's undestanding, and was issuing the promise that they would be 'forgiven', that is allowed to continue to deepen. The Jews who knew the Father but scoffed at the Son would get their chance to recognize Him and make amends. The Gentiles who recognized the Son but laughed at the Father would get their chance to deepen their understanding. BUT... it is not possible to curse the Gift, the Holy Spirit, without realizing what one is doing. There is no forgiveness, i.e., there is no question of deepening or learning: this is no crime of ignorance that can be forgiven or over-looked. Rather, it is a perverse crime of the ego. Look again, and you will see just who Jesus is accusing: people in the temple like Caiaphas who Worshiped the Father, and who realized who Jesus was, and who desperately wanted Him to disappear so that things would stay the same for them. They were blaspheming against the Holy spirit and knowingly denied the Gift. For them, there is no forgiveness.

Nothing is good or bad but thinking makes it so. If u think u ve sinned then u ve otherwise not. All the books r here to streamline our thought process. The whole idea is to focus on something which is good in larger context. U can choose any route for achieving inner calm. Even atheist also believe in being good without ritual formalities. Rather their faith in God is stronger as they r constantly negating Him and indirectly focusing on Him. Ur thoughts will make u happy,. calm and that is the whole journey is about.

So selfish and arrogant is the spirit !
Not only the atheists but for theists also it looks insensible .after all , all these are said by some man or other and not by god .Each society attributes its own culture and ideas to the the gods it has created This is proof enough that the creators of the Gods really did not know what they meant by'god .

I real don't understand why u care what the Bible says if you are an aetheist. If by spirit they mean ghosts, aethists don't belive in God, then why should they believe in ghosts. It is really a pointless question.

Roughly what I think about the golden plates Joseph Smith checked out of Moroni's library or the works of L. Ron Hubbard.

that's all well and good hon, but I don't really take the bible for anything. Heaven, hell, god, satan - I don't believe in them so to quote something out of the bible isn't gonna make me go, whoa, what was I thinking?
