Evolution does not explain the existence of the universe. Evolution explains the origin of species. The only thing is that Macro-evolution is not possible and there is no proof for it. Micro-evolution is when an animal adapts. We have seen this to be true. But, one species arising from another is not possible. The Bible will tell you that God created everything. The proof that He did is in the fact that everything had to start somewhere by a Being that is more powerful than everything we see, do not see, know and do not know. That is God.

Be honest and open minded between the sects that say their religion is at odds with science such as evolution. May I suggest you study up on the two things more in-depth and compare notes with yourself about those things which ring everlastingly true in your heart.

This book helped me to reconcile questions like yours, I think you would benefit greatly by studying it and comparing its truths with those of the relgions you check out and the science you check out.

You would likely benefit most from reading the papers about God and then the papers regarding the history and evolution of the universes.

You BELIEVE in your religion. If you are educated, you KNOW about the natural process of biological evolution. If you are Christian AND educated, you recognize biological evolution as one of many natural processes designed and set into motion by the Creator, to allow living things to adapt and survive in an ever-changing creation.

religion:a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects

evolution:change in the gene pool of a population from generation to generation by such processes as mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift.

I think there are only differences, no communalities

You can believe whatever you want, if you want a spiritually uplifting message which enhances your own importance in the world you will feel more comfortable with religion.
If you want as close as currently possibly approximation of reality, you would study evolution.

That's like comparing apples and oranges. I believe my religion is true, as well as evolution. They are not mutually exclusive in any way.

Religion is faith; evolution is scientific theory.

Both are compatible unless you subscribe to doctrines that go against reality.
