That's an old wives tale. Getting cold and wet doesn't put you at an increased risk of catching a cold.

Colds are transmitted through germs/viruses. You have to come in contact with these germs to catch a cold, generally through touch or being around someone who is sick. The idea of catching a cold from being wet, stems from the fact that you would have a lowered immune system if you were cold and wet and would thus be easier for you to get sick b/c your body is less able to ward off any viruses.

Normally soaking in the rain will not give you a cold.... there has to be cold germs around..

While I know the cold is a virus and must be transmitted some way to you. It may be the cold reduces our immune systems ability to cope with it.

it's a myth. you don't. you have to physically touch something with a cold virus to catch it.
