Any stores or websites just like the Future Shop?

Can unlocked mobile phone be used in Asia countries like Korea, Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand using GSM (sim card) bandwith 800, 1200, 1800?

The cell providers all lock onto their network ...but you get some private agents that unlock them . I work for one of these providers and can tell you from speaking to customers that their is a few agents ( who are not owned by the companyies but affiliates that do so ) HAve you heard of pacific mall ( kennedy /steeles markham ontario they sell them ...or if you odn't like the trip just do what I do buy it on ebay ..hahha

in us and europe: search ebay for "unlocked gsm phone" make sure it fits the frequncy you want. Basic phones in US aren't compatible with Europe unless it is a "world phone." Google the terms: gsm frequency country. You want to know what frequency your network is on, and get a phone with a matching frequency (900, 1800, etc) Generally, go with gsm "world phones," or look on your provider's website for a list of compatable phones and ebay one of those, unlocked.

The cells in SE Asia use different standards than in North America. However, if the phone allows you to put the appropriate chip/card into the phone, then anywhere - it simply depends on the model
