What's the quickest, most polite way to get rid of Jehovah's Witnesses who have knocked on your door?

I stupidly leave my main door open often, with just the screen door closed. I swear my neighborhood is obviously screaming for help because there are sooo many JWs and Mormons knocking on doors A LOT. I don't want to be rude, but I also don't want to listen to that. How can I immediately get rid of them, stop them, but without being rude?

Look at them straight in the eye, smile and say:
"Please don't come back."
They will try once to continue, but just smile again and say
"Please don't come back."

You don't sound like a creep, just someone who is frustrated. We respect your right to believe in God or not to believe. We don't want to debate or argue any point. If you put up a no trespassing we will not enter your yard or knock on your door. For all of those that want to expose themselves to children...that's just strange. Most of us have children and they go out with us to meet our neighbors and talk. Do you answer your door at Halloween naked and swinging your thing at the children when they knock? Is it any opportunity to expose yourself? Just curious. What a perverted thing to say. Hummm Anyway, we try to be polite so just asking to be put on a do not call list and posting the sign will work.

As a former Jehovah's Witness...


You either have to counter their arguments in a calm, logical way (that'll take time, but get them to leave you alone for a good long while) or you need to be rude, say you're not interested, and shut the door.


Either will do the trick, but Witnesses are trained to turn EVERY conversation oportunity back to their point and will continuously do this.

The last time two witnesses came to OUR door, they tried this with me too, but I countered each point with one of my own and they eventually left. Haven't seen 'em since.

Don't worry about being rude. They're being rude by knocking on your door and pestering you with their nonsense.
They count on people being afraid to be rude, and they take advantage of that to force their way into people's homes. Next time religious solicitors knock, go to the door, look them in the eye, don't say a word, and close the door in their faces. You don't have to slam it or be angry. Just firmly close it. Worked for me.

I politely tell them I'm not interested and then close the door. If I'm being rude by closing it while they're still talking, so be it. Personally, I think it's rude to continue talking when someone has said they're not interested.

i was thinking of doing this the other day, pretend your drifting and turn your head slightly and scream " ooh ice cream!" and close the door.

And to be honest, its rude to knock on your door and try to convert you to their church, its invading your privacy..

So why not be rude back if they're being rude?

I normally tell them I'm not interested. If pressed, I inform them I'm Muslim and not interested.

Try not to appear too aggravated with them. It's part of their missionary work. Just let them know politely you're not interested.

show up naked, or wearing an not entirely closed robe. wear a pentacle. I speak Russian to telemarketers, that always gets my number taken off their lists.
