Those who would despise the atheist, are not true believers. A true believer walks in love, does not argue, only offers the truth. Morning to night, they don't change. They don't bash people for any reason. They uplift, give a helping hand, cry when you cry, mourn when you mourn.
Anything you see, falling short of that description is not a true believer. Don't let this get mixed up in your head or, as it is now, you will fall into the trap of pooling all who call themselves christian, as being truly Christian.
How many people today, call themselves Americans and yet they speak only evil about America? Think about it.

Not all Christians despise atheists, just as not all atheists despise Christians. However, the ones in either subset which do the despising leave a bad taste in the mouth of everyone else in the world.
Why do people despise any group of people? Typically, because they either are ignorant of the fact that not all people share the same characteristics, or they do not care to accept the fact that broad generalizations is basically a prejudice in action.

My problem with Atheists is that they do not consider the possibility that what they believe is a 'belief'. They keep insisting that it is factual and that anyone who does not believe a fact is an idiot.
They BELIEVE there is no creator. That is a belief and nothing more. It is not a fact. No one knows for sure whether or not there is a creator. I have no problem with any religion that claims to believe there is a creator. I have no problem with any person who believes there is no creator. But Atheists do not think they only believe there is no creator, they insist that science proves there is no creator. That is pure nonsense. Their belief is no more valid than any other. Therefore, what they have is not scientific fact but a secular religious belief.
They refuse to accept that Atheism is a secular religion.
My other problem with Atheists is that since they do not believe in a Creator they do not have any moral absolutes. They have moral relativism. Moral relativism is not a form of morality, it is immorality. They also refuse to accept this.
Ignoring these two principles is what grants them license to make fun of religious people and make them feel superior to everyone else. They are demonstrably not superior.

I was about to say, "atheists, why do you generalize Christians so much?"
Yes, I am a Christian and I don't despise people of any other religion. Be him a Buddhist, Muslim, Hindi or Scientologist (??is this how you say it? I mean, Tom Cruise's?). Anyway, I believe some Christians have prejudices for atheists because they mistakenly think that all people who do not believe in some divine figure do not have direction or acceptable morals in their life. Which is quite wrong, IMO. Otherwise, you won't see this headline below, would you?

Bottomline: Whatever your religion is, you shouldn't hate anybody just because he/she isn't one of you.

Christians don't despise atheists. An atheist has the right to believe in what they want and voice their opinions as Christians do too. So, there's your answer. We can all be adults and discuss religion without getting antagonistic right?

Yes, you are correct in the respect of everyone has the right to their own beliefs, however; it's not a fair statement to say Christians in specific sense their are many religions that do this and there are may people within these religions that do not condemn atheist as it is not true to the religion to despise someone for their beliefs.

I can't think of three people alive today I despise. I disagree with athiests, and I enjoy a little sparring now and again, but I'm liberal with the hugs once the discussion is done.
Also, I think sometimes the Jesus-speak gets misinterpreted now and again. If I say, "I'll be praying for you", please don't take that to mean, "I'll be asking God to smite you with a flaming comet and turn you into a whimpering invalid so you will submit to my arguement." It means I actually give a rat's backside about your well-being. If you think it is an utter waste of time, I'm cool with that. I feel the same about baseball.

authentic Christians have deep theory of their non secular convictions and are guard to computer screen a similar interior themselves and their church. those that would desire to transform the international and rant and rail at 'non believers' are purely non secular zealots who might desire to be insecure of their ideals. no person has the astounding to tension their ideals on every physique else {freedom of religion}. you ought to attempt being an agnostic - we get it from the two aspects. collectively as there might or might no longer be a god, I even have not for my section seen any information to confirm stated existence. in case you have been the 'author' of all issues might you enable mankind to shrink to rubble this planet like we've and behave the way we do?

I don't hate atheists, matter of fact my best friend is an atheist, and I love her to death. What I don't understand though is why do atheist feel the need to sit in the religion section of YA when they do not believe in anything having to do with religion. Like my friend Angie, she used to practically badger me about my beliefs, and I just didn't see why she cared or why it was her business. I finally had to tell her that I wasn't going to listen to that anymore and that if she insisted on continuing that I wasn't going to be her friends anymore. I mean, I love her, but I love God more. You know actually I had gotten pretty upset with her for a minute there. She would curse God and say blasphemous things, talk about how stupid Christians are, talk about ******* evangelicals. I came to a point of realizing that anyone who could be so disrespectful toward me and my beliefs, that I fully believe, that are instilled in my heart as truth, didn't really care about me at all. She stopped, and I am glad she did, she was about to lose the only friend she has that loves her enough to pray for her. But I, as a Christian, know that it is my duty to be merciful to others as God has been merciful to me. Jesus said if you love me keep my commands. The command that Jesus gave us is to love our neighbor. If we love those around us all of the other commands fall under it. I love all people, we are all created, in my belief, by one father, and are brothers and sisters in his sight. I would be sinning to dislike, hate or despise anyone.

Edited. I have edited my answer, because what is the use!
Believe it or not. Just to let you know. I do NOT despise Atheists. None of them. as for those who do! I don't know why anyone would despise anyone else. The only reason I can come up with would be insecurity, or they have been harmed by others. That applies to all people not just the Atheists.
