I've been on Yahoo answers since April and just noticed there are two American flags at the bottom of the page. One for English and one for Spanish. Beyond what I've already done, (sent numerous letters, emails, and faxes to my elected officials.) I can't think of a better way to show my displeasure, than to get a satisfactory answer from Yahoo as to their choice to do this. If I don't get one, I will be canceling all my Yahoo related accounts. What do you think about the bilingual American flag?

Because there are too many people who worry about offending someone or leaving them out. Look, I am all about letting people come here for a better life. Hell, I'll hold open the door so to speak. But when you get here this is your new "country / home". Swear allegiance to MY flag. Swear allegiance to MY country. Get a job, pay taxes, vote, SPEAK AMERICAN, etc.

go ahead and cancel your yahoo accounts cause that flag is probably here to stay. there are countless cubans and puerto ricans in this country which are all rightfull citizens of the USA. i don't see anything wrong with the fact yahoo has their services availible for spanish-speaking americans. there are more countries that speak spanish than english so by common logic it would make sense to have a page translated in spanish to seek a broader audience.

... it's always the white guy. Let's go to the tote board:
* Who gave us the black plague? A white guy.
* Who invented PBC, PVC, PBB, and a host of chemicals that are killing us? White guys.
* Who has started every war America has been in? White men.
* Who is responsible for the programming on FOX? White men.
* Who invented the punch card ballot? A white man.
* Whose idea was it to pollute the world with the internal combustion engine? Whitey, that's who.
* The Holocaust? That guy really gave white people a bad name (that's why we prefer to call him a Nazi and his little helpers Germans).
* The genocide of Native Americans? White man.
* Slavery? Whitey!
* So far in 2001, American companies have laid off over 700,000 people. Who ordered the layoffs? White CEOs.
* Who keeps bumping me off the Internet? Some friggin' white guy, and if I find him, he's a dead white guy.
You name the problem, the disease, the human suffering, or the abject misery visited upon millions, and I'll bet you ten bucks I can put a white face on it faster than you can name the members of 'N Sync.

I cant believe people can be so racists. I am a US Citizen and I speak spanish. I dont have the right to look at yahoo in spanish because some person is to ignorant to learn it???America is the land of opportunity. Instead of complaining why dont you try learning something. Take a class. Then you wouldn't be having this problem. This is America. We are free. And Yahoo is free to do as it pleases. IF you don't like it close your account. I am sure they wont lose anything.

Geez...all it means is that you have a Spanish speaking version in the US. I never really noticed it but I think there are better things to spend your time on then bashing yahoo for using less space by using flags instead of typing things out. The United States was founded on the fact that we are a melting pot of people...all with different backgrounds and ethnicities. Spanish is a second language in the US. Why can't we just accept it, embrace it in fact, and move on?

Used to be the Union Jack that denominated the English language, but each generation has bastardised it and called it their own: American English, Australian English, South African English, etc. The Spanish language has gone through the same process, and now it has to accept the Americanised Mexican Spanish!

Live with it! Worry bout more important things!

Well, I'll tell you why. It can be mapped out with a perfect example being the education system:

The evolution in teaching math since the 1950s:

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit ?

2. Teaching Math In 1960s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100 His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?

3. Teaching Math In 1970s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit?

4. Teaching Math In 1980s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

5. Teaching Math In 1990s
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did this act of treachery make you feel? (There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it's ok.)

6. Teaching Math In 2007
Un hachero vende una carretada de maderapara $100. El costo de la producciones es $80. Cuanto dinero ha hecho?

oh my gosh... what is so wrong with there being spanish speaking people in America....That's crap that people feel certain languages can only be spoken in certain countries. I think it's fine as long as people know how to speak english too and not feel like they shouldn't have to learn it. Who are we to try and take control of everything.
