That's a HUGE 'IF' but let me indulge you.
First, though, there is only ONE way that would convince me. That 'something' would have to be truly staggering proof, like an appearance.
Is that going to happen?
Not a chance.
But let's pretend.
I would be stunned and would convert immediately.
Still not going to happen.

1. Which God?

2. I could not believe without tangible evidence. If it were presented and I could absolutely know that he exists, I would be glad.

3. Many atheists I've read on this site say that they would not be interested in living for eternity. I disagree, if I were living in a paradise of my own choosing with those I care about, I could see living there indefinately

4. I'd have to know which God you're referring to. If I found out it was the Christian God I'd be disappointed unless he came to make revisions to all the the corruption his teachings and commandments have suffered at the hands of ill motivated men.

The only thing that would make me believe in God, would be his actually appearing to me, and I'm guessing since hes not supposed to just do that on a whim and chill with you for a beer on the patio, it would have some sort of life altering effect I'd imagine.

It depends.

If it turned out your bible was literally true, then your god Joe Hovah is a genocidal egomaniac, and I would join (or form) the army that would undoubtedly form to try to overthrow his tyranny -- I wouldn't allow this world to be a place where my son must bow and scrape before this megalomaniac for all eternity in order to be spared an infinity of torture -- Saddam Hussein and Joseph Stalin have got NOTHING on your god.

im still not out yet in what to believe in my miserable meaningless life. who am i to say that God doesn't exists while i'm worth nothing and am not in position to say all this?
if something would make me believe in God first of all i would be mad at him for a lot of reasons:

-God, if you exist ; then why do you never show yourself, are you scared? Don't we deserve to see our almighty father?
-God, why is there so many pain and violence?
-Why is there discrimination in the world?why not make us all the same?
-God, why do you hate us so much; that you would send us to hell for eternity if we (deserved) it? -because after all we didn't asked to live and sin-
-why did you gave us life when so many people wish to be death?
its something to think about...

There is no way to answer this question because you truly cannot know how you will react to something before it happens.

And I would have to admit that it would have to be of biblical proportions to convince me of his existance. Parting of the sea, so to speak.

So, I cannot give you a real answer to something so epic.

If it happens, I'll be back to let you know, so I don't expect to be talking to you again about this.

Not much, my current moral structure is similar to the christian one, and even a believe in god would not change my stance that morality should not be legislated or that "pseudo-science" should not be taught.

Understand, that that "something" would have to fit into the overwhelming body of facts and evidence that we have, so it would have to be along the lines of "Mathematicians have determined that a brane (super string theory) is actually an intelligence and engineered the big bang"

If you were to believe in God, it wouldn't necessarily mean that you'd have to believe the Bible, since the Bible was written by men, not God. Therefore, your life would not necessarily have to change at all.

"If" that happened then I guess I would start believing in God. Since that hasn't happened, well...

I think Reisnoh said it well, despite the lack of caffeine.

you just answered your own question -- i'd believe in gawd

that's all that would change

having proof of the existence though wouldn't explain anything else, like how many mental disorders gawd has
