We are living together and expecting a baby at xmas and I really wanna complete our relationship by becoming engaged! Is it ok for a woman to ask a man to marry her? And if so, have you got any good ideas on how to do it? Also without sounding silly, will i need to get him a ring?!

Its more traditional to ask your man to marry you on a leap year, but of course its ok to ask at any time. You're in a secure relationship so why not seal it with a wedding.

I totally thought my bf would think this was an awful idea, but we talked about it the other day and he said, "if I was ready to marry her and she had the guts to do it, then I'd definitely say yes." So - go for it! If you think he'll be okay with you asking instead of him, why not?
I think you should get him a ring or at least something symbolic that he can keep. My friend was proposed to by his gf this summer and she bought him a ring. They went out together later on and picked out a ring for her as well.

It's absolutely ok! Go for it! You're an equal partner in this relationship, so you are just as able to bring up the subject as he is. I personally am much more in favor of having a conversation about what you want for the future of the relationship than a formal proposal (from either party). Chances are, if you're living together and expecting a baby, you're headed toward a long-term partnership anyway.

in this day and age u can ask a man to marry u. I did. in fact I grabbed him by the collar and said : " marry me or else." We got maried a week later.been married 11 years now.

honey this isn't the 1960's you can do whatever you want, but i probably wouldn't get him a ring i think you should ask him then you should go ring shopping together!
