There's so many good ones out there today it would be hard to say...what I like you may not...every one is looking for that certain sound and action....and to me it depends on the individual. I play classical guitar and I like the guitars that are hand made in Spain a Ramirez and the Vazquez Rubio...I don't play electric but from what I've heard I like the Gibson's, Les Paul's, Yamaha's, and a number of others too numerous to name here but like I've said it's up to the sound that you like...I think that all people must go where their going to buy the guitar and play all the names and see what suites them best, as you probably already known you can have five Les Paul's and every one will have a little different sound....I don't mean to be vague but I think everyone must choose the guitar that they !!!!!! like best not what someone else likes !!!! Good luck to you....bye .

Depends what kind of music you like.

Fender Strat and Gibson Les Paul are like two sides of the Rock-n-roll coin, but there are SO MANY good guitars out there in the world - each with a different song.

My best advice is to go to the music store and try out several different ones.

My favorite electric guitar is the one I've had since 1965; a Chet Atkins Nashville Gretsch double-cutaway. If I had a choice to buy a new one it would probably be another Gretsch, same 6120 model, or the Gibson ES-335.

What you buy depends on the sound you enjoy best. A Gretsch fulfills my requirements.

Fender Stratocaster, and Gibson Les Paul are "classics" and best references, accordingly.
