No, Hell is a very real, very terrible place. It isn't just a scare tactic.

If Hell was a scare tactic to "enroll new members", Christianity would never be able to convert anyone. It is real, but it is the undieing love of God that brings people to Christianity, not a "scare tactic".

the concept of hell is a tactic drawn from the place near Jerusalem where they burned the trash...including the bodies of criminals...the valley of Gehenna ....which through multiple translations starting with Greek has become the word hell....the fire was continuous and people feared being thrown into the fires of Gehenna for being bad.....criminal....it was the city dump...but what a great tool to keep people in line through the centuries. Nothing happens to you when you die...you simply cease to exist....what's so scary about that? you won't know anything, you won't be disappointed....

The biblical answer is no.
Heaven is where God is and hell is where God is not. We are on earth. How do we get to where God is?
Despite was people may think about a person, only God judges. The bible encourages people to do good not bad. It documents people's choices, but it never condemns anyone to hell, not even Judas.
We may read something about a person which we think condemns them to hell, but we would be wrong simply because God judges and He doesn't tell us His decision.

I think so, yes.
I'll take a chance though because that's the way I see it, as a scare tactic to try to convince me of something which I believe to be false.
If it worked on me, then obviously I wouldn't have really been sure of my convictions, would I?

There is not hell. We all go to the same place and any mental or flaws that have been caused by environmental issues go away. For instance a serial killer would have learned lessons during his life a a serial killer but he would no longer have that behavior. I hope that helped. You should read some Silvia Brown books. She's a smart woman who answers all of these kind of questions.

Ever read "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" by Jonathan Edwards? That pretty much sums it up for you, in a nice convenient 18th Century package.

I believe that it is a scare tactic.
Why would God, who supposedly loves us so much and supposedly already knows the outcome of all things... why would he knowingly create a person that he already knew would go to hell? If God knows everything, then he knows who will go to hell and who will not... long before they are even born.
But then again, if you don't believe in God... who cares?

Hell has been around since the beginning of time... everyone sees the ying and the yang; for every wonderfulness there is horribleness.
Its' the balance of nature and all ethereal planes.

Little Vader,
GOD'S WORD is TRUTH. HE does not lie. There is a hell and a heaven and you must choose what you are going to do and where you are going to go. It is a Choice for each of us and none can "earn you a place" in heaven. I hope you make a choice soon. Have a great weekend.
Thanks,
Eds
