Of course they aren't.

Fundamentalism, as a movement, arose in the United States starting among conservative Presbyterian academics and theologians at Princeton Theological Seminary in the first decade of the Twentieth Century.

That's basically 1900 years with no such idea being a part of Christian beliefs.

Even the idea of "Bible alone" (Sola Scriptura) did not appear on the scene until 1500 years A.D.

Since Jesus said that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church that He started...then how can anyone say that all Christians before 1909 (when the term "fundamentalist" was first used) were "false" Christians?

Yes and no. My grandmother is a Catholic and the way she loves Jesus and other people and conducts her life is living proof of her real Christianity. She is non judgmental, patient, kind, just a warm and wonderful lady. You would probably classify me as a fundamentalist protestant. I and other fundamentalist friends love Jesus, are changed by that love, love others and live life of charity and hospitality...without pouring our beliefs down any ones throat, but always available to explain our beliefs in a loving way if asked. Sadly I know too many "Christians" who use Jesus as a whip to condemn others not even realizing the damage they are doing. Before I was a christian my father died when I was a teenager. A "fundamentalist" youth pastor told me, the same week of his death, that if my father wasn't saved he would go to hell. Boy did that turn me off of his brand of Christianity and really hurt so deeply I can not even begin to describe. Now older, wiser, and "saved" I can forgive those comments and move on. I pray that pastor has since found Jesus and has moved on to living it! The bible said you would know them by their fruits...Do not blanket statement people in an entire group. Not all those who cry Lord, Lord will be known. Many "Christians" do not bear good fruit...regardless of denomination...but many do.

There isnt really a group running around called "Bible-fundamentalists." That is just a nickname given to anybody who seriously believes in the Bible.

Anybody who upholds the teachings of Christ denying themselves, and living by the spirit is a true Christian.

The follow the letter of the Bible, not necessarily the intent.

But yes, they do consider themselves Christians, and likely they only consider fundamentalists "true" Christians.

Not necessarily, Salvation is based on faith not on any interpretation of the bible. Only God knows our hearts. Only God can determine who is a "real" Christian and who is not.

" I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life; no man can come to the Father except through me". -- Jesus Christ (Jn. 14:6)

" Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved". (Acts 4:12)
