Don't be scared to ask him. They are not fatal.
Your gall bladder is a small organ that stores bile, which is produced by the liver. When you eat fatty food, the bile is released into the digestive tract to help digest the fat and meat.
Gallstones form for a variety of reasons. People have suggested that a bad diet can cause them, but that's never been proven. Gallstones are usually the result of high cholesterol content within the bile duct or gall bladder, though that's not necessarily because of a high cholesterol diet. It seems to have more to do with problems in the gall bladder. The salts that make up components of bile can also get too concentrated and form stones. The stones can be numerous and the size of sand grains or can be large and the size of pebbles, even golf balls.

Gall stones are little stones that build in your gallblader up near your liver and can't pass through so cause excruciating pain. They can be caused through eating a lot of fatty food and when you have gall stones and eat fatty foods you are in excruciating pain. They are dangerous if left untreated as they can get into liver and cause problems. But simple keyhole surgery is done to remove them, they are not life threatening if treated. Visit website below for more detailed info. I'm just advising as my friend just had them removed last year!

gall stones are little stones in the gall bladder (which makes bile) they are extremely painfull, and i'd recomend your friend having his removed as soon as possible, else he'll end up like my wife did, not eating and in constant agony. as for em being fatal, err i dont think so, yet if left untreated i presume they could cause an infection that if left could be.

They are stones made up from cholesterol and bile pigments that collect in your gall bladder and can cause severe pain, though they are often broken down with drugs, ultrasonic treatment or removed in a simple operation.
