I will say Aruba. Have not been to St. Lucia so I really cannot comment there. But, I loved, loved Aruba and cannot wait to go back. I was there in October and it was beautiful all week. No rain and it is out of the hurricane belt so you do not have to worry about hurricanes. It is windy all the time so you wont want to do your hair fancy. The wind helps ease the humidity. The water is beautiful, the sand nice and white.
Stayed at an All-inclusive resort called the Divi Aruba. A low rise hotel, nice staff and good food. You can rent a vehicle and trael around the island and not worry about getting lost as the island is very small. We saw the whole island in one day. The Natural Bridge is an attraction but it collapsed a few years ago. Also, did a party bus one night that takes you to local spots that the average tourist may not venture to on their own.
Airport is new there as well. The Queen Beatrix Airport I beleive it is called. Very nice!
You really cannot go wrong in Aruba. The airport is in the middle of the island. The low rise places to stay are about a 10 min car ride and the high rises are further up the island but still not that far. Have fun!

Definitely St. Lucia!! St. Lucia has everything for all holiday goers. Looking for relaxation, peace and quiet? There are the beautiful beaches and waterfalls. Looking for adventures? Well there’s the zip wires through the rainforest, mountain biking, hiking up one of the Piton Mountains or the pristine blue rainforest, visit Soufriere's Volcano and Sulphur Springs (the only drive thorough volcano in the world), Plantation Estates, deep sea fishing, whale/dolphin/turtle watching/spotting, sailing, horseback riding…the list is endless. St. Lucia has evolved over the years into one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean - particularly for honeymooners and other romantics, who are enticed by the island's natural beauty, its many splendid resorts and friendly inns, and its welcoming atmosphere. There are some sophisticated hotels that have opened in the past year. Next year watch out for the Starwood Westin Le Paradis Resort. The beauty of St. Lucia with its topical rainforest, beautiful beaches, never-ending activities and the warm friendliness of the local community just captured me. If you looking to experience the Caribbean culture and nature, then St. Lucia is the place. If you are looking for place that is home away from home with its nightclubs and casinos than Aruba is for you. If St. Lucia is your choice, you should wait until the beginning of Nov to go when the Food & Rum Festival start which is a spectacular event.
F.Y.I. Even though St. Lucia is in the hurricane belt, the depressions normally start here but do not build up enough velocity to become a category 1 or 2 hurricane. The tropical depressions are just a lot of rain that usually passes over St. Lucia in half a day, (like Hurricane Dean). The last hurricane to landfall on St. Lucia was back in 1963. Being in the hurricane belt should not be a reason why not to visit St. Lucia.

I have been to ST Lucia a couple times as a cruise ship stop and I have been to Aruba for a 5 day stay and also as a cruise ship stop. Frankly St Lucia did not grab me as a place that I would want to go back to. On the other hand I would go back to Aruba any day. Perhaps the difference is because I really didn't have a lot of time in St Lucia, didn't see the beaches like I did in Aruba, and didn't see or experience all of the activities that are available there.
On the other hand we spent 5 days in Aruba and toured the island, had a chance to go to several different beaches, experienced eating in their restaurants, played in their casinos, and greatly enjoyed just being at a great hotel (Marriott) and enjoying the beach. Aruba is an arid island vs St Lucia having much more greenery. It is windy in Aruba all of the time, like maybe 15 MPH, but that is good as it helps reduce the effects of the humidity on you. There are not really that many things to go see on Aruba, a half day tour will cover it. There are lots of water sports in Aruba including jet skis, snorkel and scuba, para-sailing and wind surfing and just lounging on the beaches. The casinos are nice, but small. Restaurants are rather expensive. One of the main attraction, a natural bridge, collapsed a couple years ago. But that aside I will still take Aruba as it is a clean safe and enjoyable place that has some great beaches.

best choice..aruba..it's my second home...what you are looking for and where to stay would depend on your age and the area you come from......the nicer beaches and more romantic area is by far the eagle beach area as compared to the palm beach area........but if you reside in one of america's concrete jungles and like being crowded then head for palm, where you are know by your room number, use glass elevators and can grab a bit at the local mcdonalds, if you want to be called by name and like the slower pace then i suggest eagle, however, as stated above about the constant winds, not true in the time frame from mid sept-end of october, aruba sits below the hurricane belt and during that season the seabreezes on many days are drawn away from the island, it can me humid, very humid, i suggest another time, however st. lucia is NOT below the hurrican belt and you could find yourself ducking for cover, my suggestion, go aruba about 6 weeks later...i'll be back down there in november...more info? write me

I like Aruba...
reasons:
if I want to relax it's all about a day on the beach or sightseeing. For the nightlife it's almost as fun as Vegas. In my opinion you get the best of both vacations in Aruba.

I would recommend St. Lucia because of its natural beauty. My boyfriend and his family went there a few years ago and they had a good time!
The beaches are beautiful, as well, too.
You could see Maria islands that's right near St. Lucia.
