It is no wonder that the early Muslims allowed this Icon to stand when all others fell. There is something inherently holy about a Mother holding Her Child.

Yes, the love that Mary had for her son, Jesus, should be the love that we have for Jesus as well.

My favorite painting of mary and Jesus is called Madonna of the Streets - http://www.nolaccl.com/images/MadonnaOfTheStreets.jpg

It shows Mary holding Jesus and tooking up to Heaven to thank God for sending His Son to us to save us.

i do no longer locate something inspiring with regard to the Madonna and toddler, to be honest. I purely think of that could be a tragic image. historic structures like the pyramids and medieval castles are very inspiring to me. that is a few thing with regard to the quantity of making plans and challenging hard paintings that went into them - tremendously seeing as though that they had not one of the technologies we've recently to construct such super structures.

Yes all creatures have a respect for a mother and child. Not so sure about holy though.

I wouldn't use the word "holy" to describe a mother holding her child.

Perhaps "Noble" or "Natural"

What about when a non-human species mother holds it's child?

Hard to call a false idol a holy thing. Anything that people pray to is an idol that God hates. Mary wasn't holy she died and went to hell if she rejected Jesus and to heaven if she accepted him. She was human no more important to God then Hitler. God used her but God could have used Hitler if he wanted to be used.
